Thursday Thoughts: Universal Winks

When searching through my files for an appropriate post today, this one made me smile, especially given events day before yesterday. See, I have arthritis in my hands and when I type a lot (I’m a writer so d’uh), my fingers swell. Sometimes, I have to take off my wedding rings and they usually fit fine on my pinkie finger. If it’s loose, then I put it in the case on my desk where I keep my regular glasses as opposed to my computer glasses. It sucks to be old, lemme tell ya! Anyway… The rings were on my little finger. And I did the things. Lots and lots of things besides typing. And right after dinner, I realized I was no longer wearing my rings. Panic! I backtracked. I searched. I…panicked. And then I appealed to every known source of finding things.

I’d left a load of laundry in the dryer so yesterday morning, I hit the “refresh” button to heat out the wrinkles. I started looking again for my rings. No luck. I went back to the garage and turned on all the lights to check the floor out there because Lawyer Guy and I worked on the broken garage door cable the night before. Nothing. I folding the clothes, checking both the washing machine and dryer for the rings, in case they’d come off while sorting/stuffing/folding laundry. Nothing. I picked up the basket of folded clothes, turned around, and caught a glint of gold and sparkle from the corner of my eye. Yup. There were my rings, sitting on top of my summer bedspread stuffed in a basket waiting to be washed. I… *shrug* You tell me. Anyway, the Universe’s message makes a lot of sense today.

Excusez-moi, Silver, but celestial protocol usually involves either a nod, a wink, or at the very least an acknowledging sideways glance while peering over your sunglasses, whenever a life-changing miracle is performed on your behalf.

And I’m quite sure you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Oh, you’re welcome.

Anytime. Anytime at all. Literally.

Tallyho,
The Universe

They never cease, huh, Silver? Especially not for you.

Yeah, I know exactly what the Big U is talking about. And it never ceases to amaze. So, whether it was Christmas magic and elves, the fairies, St. Anthony and/or St. Jude, God, my guardian angel, or Freddy the Poltergeist, I got my own little miracle and I’m thankful. What miracle or good thing has happened to you lately?

  1. Yay for finding your rings! No miracles here lately, but I haven’t really needed one. Winning the lottery would be awesome, though. We saw a bald eagle circling over the house a couple days ago, which is always a little miracle. Oliver the Orphan Buck came back to the yard after a couple weeks away and he looks awesome. We were kind of afraid he’d been taken in the hunt, but he made it. Mom’s doing good after her trouble last month. I found an awesome prezzie for the Kid, which she should get today if the mails are running like they’re supposed to. All sorts of good things out there, if you know where to look. =o)

Aspercreme on the hands, baby. When I’ve got sausage fingers from typing a lot, it’s the only thing that works.

Got something to say?
