This was me yesterday afternoon. We announced the National Readers Choice Award finalists on Friday and I had to update the OKRWA website. Yeah. For as easy as WordPress is, sometimes I can’t see the forest for the trees. After spending way more time than I’d allotted, and discovering I’d drained the pot of coffee, Lawyer Guy was glad he’d gone into his office to work. I’d mellowed out by the time he got home.
I also had OKRWA chapter meeting on Saturday. It was fun. The morning was spent in a brainstorming session and after lunch, Professor Nathan Brown, a writing teacher and poet from OU, presented a program on what the reader needs to know. It was enlightening!
I’m STILL reading contest entries, though I took a break to read a book that finaled in the NRCA Historical category–Moriah Densley’s debut novel, SONG FOR SOPHIA. Her hero is an autistic savant and I was very curious about how she handled this. I really, REALLY enjoyed the book. Don’t let the book description throw you. It doesn’t do the book justice.
I’m also under a hard deadline for a project. I have to have it finished and turned in by April 25. Luckily, it’s not a very long piece, but I’m behind. No blog hopping or Facebooking until I’m done.
How about y’all? Did you have a good weekend? Read anything worth mentioning or seen a good movie or TV show? Feel free to talk among yourselves while I’m dragging along through the project. Oh! I almost forgot! I’m visiting Kat Henry Doran today. Claire Vitale, my heroine from BEST LAID PLANS is being interviewed on the WILD WILD WOMEN blog. 😉 Stop by and say hi!

No one should ever ever be ‘out’ of coffee. Sounds like you had a busy weekend. Go, write your project and don’t worry about replying here until you’re done.
And just when exactly did it get to be the 22nd?? Holy crud. April flew by on a whirl of dust off the U-haul.
I finished the Guns and Roses anthology. Then I started a book by David Farland – The Golden Queen. It’s fantasy mixed with SF with a little sidhe thrown in. So far, so good. The Hubs and I watched the movie Battleship together. He’s not usually one for movies with aliens, but he seemed to like this. Maybe the military part kept him interested. I know he enjoyed the kick-alien-ass and save the world part. I also introduced him to V.I. Warshawski via that movie, which he liked. (I don’t know that I can ever get him to read the books, though.)
What a hellish weekend. Out of coffee??????? You’ve broken my heart.
Good luck meeting your deadline!
I needed a coffee refill so thought I’d take a moment to say hi. B.E., I finally saw BATTLESHIP. It was better than I thought and Liam Neesom. 😉 Wow. I hadn’t thought about the V.I. Warshaski in ages. I used to read the books and then moved on. I’ll have to check out Farland’s books. As if I have time to read anything but contest entries. 😆 But it sounds like something I’d like. Keep me posted on them.
JB, I know, right?!? I didn’t want to make a full pot Luckily, I had some bottled Starbucks frappicinos about to expire. I put those suckers on ice and survived!
And yes, I know. I shouldn’t be here. I’m getting back to work now. Promise!
Way to o with all the NRCA announcements! Know who I want to win in a few categories already. 😉
*bwahaha* I’m not tellin’. 😉
