I’m feeling pretty proud of myself at the moment. I finished up the “sooper sekrit” project yesterday–TWO WHOLE DAYS before my deadline! I can offer a bit of tease about it. A well-known book blogger issued a challenge to the authors she knew. I accepted it. I was assigned a book cover and a title and my job was to create a story that is a ridiculous spoof of the romance genre. Let me tell you, it is HARD to write badly while still writing well. 😆 The “series” will be revealed in May and I’ll keep y’all posted on the location.
Today, I’m back at work on ROGUE MOON. Finally! So many ideas waiting to get written but first things first. I was feeling a bit down by not getting to “play my way”–meaning writing what I want to, when I want to (yay for commitments, right?!?) And then the Universe dropped this gem on me:
It’s not the career you choose, Silver, the friend you marry, or the path you take that determines success or happiness in life, but that each day, in some small way, you seek to amaze as much as be amazed.
You “Wow” me,
~The UniverseP.S. Oh, Silver, when we’re this good, I just want to give you the biggest hug…. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmh!
This, without being quite so eloquent about it, is one of the reasons I took up the challenge. I hoped to amaze myself, and just maybe, I’ll amaze some others along the way. And I think this is why writers try their hardest to tell their best story, using the best lessons they’ve learned about their craft. It’s also why I look for the little things along the way–what I call the “OH MY” moments.
Today, take a moment to amaze and be amazed. You’ll feel better. Trust me. *nods*

Excellent advice, Silver. Of course, it’s a little early yet for amazement, but there’s a whole day ahead of me. =o)
And congratulations on getting that piece done! I knew you could do it.
Yeah, sometimes the Universe is a smarty-pants. 😉
I really hope folks will enjoy the spoof. I never know if something like that will fall like an overcooked souffle or will tickle like a feather boa. 😆
Ooh, looking forward to more information about this project. Back in the day (university years), I was gifted a book that spoofed regency romance (yep, I was writing romance way back then and my friend couldn’t resist). Love’s Reckless Rash – it was hilarious – wish I hadn’t got rid of that on my many moves.
Love the Universe’s message – I will take it with me throughout the day 🙂
I love a well-done spoof. I only hope mine is! 😆 I need to find something amazing to see to day!
Congrats on finishing the sekrit project. Sounds like it’s going to be a blast! 🙂
I hope it makes people laugh! You have such a natural talent for humor, I envy you! 😀
