A month with five Mondays should be a license to drink. Just sayin’. That said, today is the last day of July. August starts tomorrow. Lots of stuff happens in August. LG and I will celebrate 40 years together. He has a birthday. And it’s back to school for Stormy and Baseball Boy. And it’s hot. Probably the hottest it’s been all summer–and that’s saying something.
In other news, we’re done with soccer until fall. This was Stormy’s last season with this team and league. He’s moving up to an “academy” league that will be more instructive and competitive. That’s a very good thing. The kid is easy-going and a team player but he was also one of the most focused and best players on his team. Losing frustrates him. He comes by it honestly as competition is built into our DNA. Anyway, he had a good game and managed to keep the score tied while he was playing goalie. As this was a “final” game, there was a kick-off and Stormy’s team ended up winning. They placed 3rd in the league.
Sadly, I’m starting to really hate CROSSFIRE. Well–the edits AND Real Life for interferring. Getting focused and sticking with the edits has been a balancing act. Along with on-going vision stuff. I can only stare at the screen for defined periods of time before they start to water and vision gets blurry. And there are parts of the book that I just want to rip apart. I haven’t because it’s just the frustration showing. I walk away and when I come back later, I realize that “Hey, that’s not bad at all. In fact, it makes sense and it’s a nifty bit of plot/character/setting. Still, time is rushing by and the editing process is progressing at a snail’s pace. Still, it’ll be live eventually.
Let’s see. What else happened last week or this weekend that y’all might be intereted in… No new adventures in cooking. It’s too hot. Jake goes in for a follow-up with the vet this afteroon, hence my trip yesterday to Wallyworld to stock up on groceries. We didn’t win Power Ball or MegaMillions. I have come to the conclusion that I do NOT want to live in a Barbie world.
On that cheery-pink thought, time to get to work. I’m not a fan of AI but if someone comes up with an editor that mimics my own brain? I’d be tenpted. The only thing worse than edits is writing the blurb. 🙄 What do y’all think about AI? What would you use it for?

Print out the copy of the book and do your edits the old fashioned way. I always find things that way that I miss doing it on the puter. I also have noticed that many Indie authors should try it. Soooo many errors.
I have until the 18th or so to finish probating Jim’s will and I have one last thing to deal with so I have to do that today. I have been dragging my feet. Alot.
The weather has been so much better the last few days. Loving it!
Off to my 45th class reunion this weekend. Looking forward to seeing old friends,my cousin and my BFF.
Easy to drag your feet on that sort of thing but yay for better weather. Have fun at your reunion. Sadly, reading on paper or the screen is not an easy thing, which is why I’m still mostly doing audible books. When the eyes start to water, things go blurry no matter what I’m looking at. The new glasses help because I can go about 30 minutes instead of 10. Mainly, it’s a case of the summer doldrums and the fact that my deposit from Amazon for July (May’s royalty payment) was a whole two dollars. I sold one book the entire month of May. Makes me quetion why I’m still doing this. June and July were a little better but won’t pay any bills. Aw well. Again, have a great time this weekend!
Have LG read the book to you at night and have him make edits!! LOL
Oh dear lord, NO! We’ll hit 40 years together on Sunday. I have no plans to rock the boat and that would do it! 🤣🤣🤣
BWAAAHHHAAAAAA!!!!
Happy almost 40 years! You two are so awesome, it’s easy to see why you’ve stayed together for so long. My own milestone is that Owl turns 30 this month. I don’t know how it’s possible for me to have a 30 year old kid. Gack.
Yay for Stormy. Ack about the book edits – I’d help if I could, but I barely have the extra brain power these days to tie my own shoes.
AI… just no. Don’t want it. Don’t need it. I don’t even want GPS in my car telling me where to turn. I heard it can write books. Like we need more competition for reader dollars (or rather lack of dollars, as the case may be)
Yeah, those associated with the “arts” are up in arms about AI. I think there’s a place for it but only if it’s curtailed and Asimov’s 3 Laws of Robotics are strictly adherred to. Just sayin’. Kinda scary when our “kids” turn into adults because, dang if I feel that old! LOLOL And yeah, I hooked up with a keeper, for sure. But so did you so there ya go. 😉
