Monday Musings

August is almost over. Next Monday is Labor Day. Where did the summer go?

I admit, I gritched about the weather a lot. It was hot. But not hot. Which is weird, I know. We only hit triple digits one day this summer. We teased 100 often, but only hit it once. It truly is the humiditiy because 98 with humidity over 50% makes for a “feels like” heat index in triple digits. We did that a lot this summer. We had rain. I will never complain about rain. What’s crazy is a Canadian front came through last night and we’re looking at a high today of 70, maybe. And rain. Yippee!!!

My marathon relisten of Thea Harrison’s Elder Races is drawing to an end. I have a couple of novellas and one, maybe two novels left. Once I’m done, not sure what I’ll plug in to listen to.

Writing. Well. Yeah. About that. I managed some words betwixt and between cursing the computer set up. Say hello to Beetlejuice. He is mostly working. There are stupid things that I haven’t found the solution to. I have hopes that things smooth out and BJ settles down and plays nice. At this point, besides the bespelled books in the Special Collections of Aisling’s library, I may give her a haunted computer.

Critters. I could spend pages discussing that topic. Toby is beginning to settle in. The stress levels among cats and dogs is starting to ease. Pete and Toby often come nose-to-nose. Toby backs down. Good dog. Loki–who is mostly a hermit cat except for Jake and occasionally LG–is starting to come out at various times. He and Toby stare at each other and Saturday night, they actually got within about a foot of each other. I was there, hand on Toby’s collar, just in case. Hopefully, they continue to make friends and learn to play together. Loki wants to play. Toby wants to play. Jake and Pete do not. Seems like a good match to me. Jake is the older brother, complete with lots of eyerolls and snorts.

I have one other thing to say. Ragweed. That is all, and explains a lot.

Here’s hope for a productive week. We’re looking at cooler temps and rain at least until later in the week. LG’s birthday was yesterday but with everyone’s crazy schedules, we tend to hold the family celebration around Labor Day because that comes between LG’s and Uncle Fix-It’s birthdays and we celebrate them together. No firm plans yet. With the weather, I’m hoping that puts me into a writing mood. We’ll see. Anyone have plans for the week?

I have one eye open and the other slightly cracked….(the eye, not me) I will be back after another cup or two!

Hope the coffee kicked in. I know the feeling.

Sorta!! I am so thrilled to have cool air outside that I don’t know what to do with myself. Monday is supposed to be an inside day…laundry, cleaning, etc., but today is so nice it’s hard to stay indoors.

It has rained here all day but the AC hasn’t kicked on once! Hopefully, rain will knock down some of the ragweed too! You can do the inside chores tomorrow. 😉

No rain here, but it has been in the mid seventies all day with a brisk breeze. I’ve had the a/c on, but only because the upstairs rooms were pretty warm. Sure feels great for a change!!

Happy belated birthday to LG. It makes good sense to do all the celebrating around the holiday. That way everyone is there.

It’s really good to hear that the critters are settling down. It’s hard when a new member is added to an already “functioning” group. Toby still in the puppy years makes it even more difficult.

I agree with you about this summer. It wasn’t as hot as most but it was so uncomfortable because of the high dew points. Just yucky.

It’s super cool today. I love it. I had to go for my mammogram and still can’t walk in a shoe without pain. I had to take it in stride and now the tow and foot are swollen again ( the swelling has never gone down completely but has been better).

My REALLY BIG THING – I bought a house, or put in an offer, down the road for C & C to move into. That way he’ll be less than an 1/4 mile away and it will be easier on him when he needs to come help me out. It’s also slightly larger than his current house. He will rent or sell his house and slowly pay me back. Needless to say, I’m scared. Doing tings like this always gets me worked up.

I hope your day is going well😊.

OH WOW! It will be a blessing to have C&C so close and it sounds like y’all have things worked out financially. Big scary step but I think it’s a good one for all invovled. I suspect he frets about being further away and will be happier to be close.

Critters just take time and patience. LG boutht out the “container store”. 🤣 At least most of it was on sale. And we are doing sorting and cleaning that needed to be done so there’s that. At the moment, Jake and Toby are both asleep in my office. I have to go get dog food so I have real clothes on. Jake knows something is up and plans on going with me. That has alerted Toby. 🙄 Not sure how we’ll manage dinner out with the two of them next weekend. Fun times. … Not! 🤣

Enjoy the cool and have a great week!
