This time of the year is rather like the summer doldrums. Days are getting shorter which is something. But I’m ready for Fall! Yes, leaves are falling but it’s more from lack of rain and hot days. I’m sorry but 88 degress is NOT all autumnal. It might be play-off season in the MLB. Football is in full swing. But if it doesn’t feel like Fall, how can it be…you know…FALL?!!?
I finished a book I’d been putting off reading. It’s by a favorite go-to author in a favorite and often reread/relistened to series but this book? Yeah. There were reasons. Both characters are favorites but I wasn’t ready to buy into the romance. Also, the wazy the books was structured occasionally threw me in and out.of the story. Still, the author is best-selling so who am I to question. I still have mixed feelings about the book but I’m glad I finally broke down and listened to it. I’ve moved on to an “omnibus” of six books in a series. Werewolves. Well-known author but new to me. We’ll see. So far, so good.
What little writing I did last week was good. Well, it made me life anyway. I can always count on the “four mouskeeters” to keep me entertained. That would be Caleb, Sinjen, Ariel, and Nikos. Sade was absent for this scene and the good news is, I’ve figured out why she missed out of the fun. You’ll get to read the snippet come Wednesday. I didn’t write copious amounts but I did write some and the bits and pieces of what is written is in better order and the story is starting to not only take real shape but to make sense as well. I’m still determined to get it out by Christmas.
I did a good thing Saturday. I used to give blood regularly but since the surgeries and the whole collapsed veins in both arms, I’ve been reluctant. That said, it’s been almost 2 years and the local blood bank is in desperate need of my blood type. So, Jake and I went to donate. The vampire was excellent and I got a cool Halloween T-shirt that glows in the dark and has a gargoyle on it. Anyway, I’ll get back in the habit of donating. I’m the only one in the family who can. Sadly, Only and LG are universal donors but both are on meds that preclude them from doing so.
I haven’t seen my hummingbird lately but she’s been around, according to the nectar level in the feeder. They normally start heading south around this time of year but see my above complaint about daily temperatures. I mean, seriously. By now, I’ve usually turned off the AC and opened windows. Due to ragweed–which won’t go away until we get a frost–and high temps, AC is still running. Blerg.
Let’s not talk about sports, um-kay?
And on that note, I’ve got nuthin’ left to report. Ah well. Not like I live an exciting life, right?

Ugh, I’m with you on Fall. I’m ready for some cooler temps. Yay for books to read and for writing (even if it was only a little)! Thank you for donating blood. I think our hummingbirds are gone, so we took down the feeder. Bummer for still having to turn to AC (here, too). You and me, lady… we lead the exciting lives, eh?
Not much happening around here. We’re committed to getting back into the swing of being present in our lives. I hope to comment every post here and do actual posts on my blog. I’m also going to get back to the damn WIP if it kills me, which it might.
Writing is NOT easy! 😆😆 And yay for betting back into the swing of things. LG and I have been in the doldrums too. I keep hoping for the cool crisp fall to rejuvenate me. And here’s summer digging in fingers and toes.
But we got this, right? Right!
Right!
You need to share the author when you feel comfortable. I’ve read many a werewolf series.
My hummingbirds left weeks ago. Taking down the feeders got rid of the wasps. One good thing.
The chipmunks are just awful here. I don’t know what to do. We can’t poison them because of the birds of prey and nothing really deters them. I laid moth balls all around the house and down the holes I could see. No success. I say they play catch with them 😉.
C just text me that the electrician has been at the house all day and he thinks he’s have it all done tomorrow. It’s a big job. As long as it is all done to code, I’m good. Maybe I’ll even get a refund – who am I kidding?!
Have a great afternoon!
It’s Vivian Arend’s Granite Lake Wolves series. They’re more novellas than novels but they’re light fated mates. I’m on to the third one now. LOL
The hummers usually pass through here and are gone by the end of the month, especially if the weather’s warm. I’ll keep an eye on the level.
We just have squirrels and rats. Big rats. Well, not so much the rats any more since the wooden fence fell dow and took out part of the cement block wall where they lived.
Yay on the renos going fast! And ditto on code. Who knows? Maybe you will get a little back.
Hope you’ve had a good day!
Still “coffeeing” here and hoping something starts working! (11 am on Tuesday in case it needs documented) It looks so dark and gloomy out…as if the sun would never shine again til spring!
I’d almost trade. It’s so bright here I had to put on sunglasses to go out and refill the bird feeder. And I coffee all day long. LOL
5:30 pm and the sun is peeking out for the first time!
Hope the fog burned away today so you got some sun.
Not really, but I still got quite a bit accomplished.
