Monday Morning Quarterback

I almost forgot to post today. I’d like to say it was because I had this fabulous, fun-filled weekend but…

Well, okay…truth be told, it wasn’t a bad weekend. I’ve been fighting this lousy chest cold and I made the mistake of starting a book Friday night. I knew better than to start it at bedtime, but… Yeah. It was so good, the cold meds that normally knock me right into ZZZZZland didn’t even touch the reading frenzy.

Saturday, I spent the day pretty much in bed. It was cold and raining so I slept in, napped, refused to read. 😆

Sunday, it was COLD! I mean cold enough to freeze certain parts of a witch’s anatomy. The Only and I headed up to Guthrie anyway for our photo shoot. She got some awesome shots for a book cover she’s been commissioned for. Shhhhh. I can’t say much for now. Suffice it to say it’s a well-known author. And we got some full length shots of me for PR purposes. I’ll hopefully post my pick of those later in the week.

In sports news, Team USA is moving to the next round of the World Baseball Classic tournament. It was in doubt there for awhile! The surprise team is Italy. Who knew?!?

What about y’all? Good times this weekend? Good books? Good food? Friends? Oh, and that book that kept me up all night? Kerry Schafer’s debut fantasy, BETWEEN. I. Love. This. Book! It’s all about dreams, dragons, and a penguin. Yeah, I know, but trust me on this. Read the book!

  1. Didn’t I say Between was awesome? I’m so glad you enjoyed it, too. =o)

Sorry you’ve been under the weather. I hope your weekend of rest helped. Hurray for the only snagging a cover from a well-known author. I’m sure the pics will be awesome – those and the ones she did of you. And what’s in Guthrie that would be good for a shoot? I don’t know much about it – except my very estranged brother’s last known location was there. If you saw a big, ugly dude wearing medieval clothes, chances are it was him.

I spent the weekend reading. I downloaded several new books from my favorite authors, and inhaled a couple of those. Seanan McGuire’s ‘Midnight Blue Light Special’ was amazing, but Rob Thurman’s ‘Slashback’ kept me reading all day yesterday. So that writing I was supposed to do? Yeah, it didn’t get done.

I knew BETWEEN would be awesome. That’s why I didn’t want to start it at bedtime. 😆

Guthrie is a really cool town. Most of the downtown area has bee preserved as it appeared at the turn of the last century (1889 – 1907). The buildings are original. The Only has friends who own the SANDPLUM EVENT CENTER. We did the photo shoot in several locations in the interior.

I have a Rob Thurman on my TBR shelf. I really need to give it a try. And yeah, I’llprobably have to give Seanan McGuire a try too. Monday’s are soooo bad for my book budget! 🙄

Did you pass me your cold through the wireless highway, Silver? Yep, down with it this weekend (and I don’t mean that in a rap-style, kickin’ it kind of way). So I did nothing all weekend except sleep and wallow!! Oh, and watched the Canadian Brier (curling)!! Good times 😉

This darn thing is insidious! Insidious, I say!!!! Of course, if I wouldn’t stay up until all hours reading, I might get well faster. 🙄

Take today easy and get well, Janet!

For some reason, the link I posted in my comment to B.E. isn’t really showing up as a link. If you click on SANDPLUM EVENT CENTER up there, it will take you to the website. It’s an awesome place!

Sorry you weren’t feeling well, but yay for the photo shoot and a good book! 🙂

We did our annual St. Patty’s 5k which is always loads of fun. Considering it snowed the day before I was supremely grateful for the sun. 🙂

    Feel better!

Need to add to my TBB list. I’ve been home sick all day with a cold. Will head back to work tomorrow, but have spent the whole day sleeping for the most part.

    • Silver James says:

What is it with this cold?!? I swear I caught it from the internet and I’ve infected all my friends with it. It’s crazy! The good news is, other than a small. occasionally nagging cough, I’m good now.

I spent Saturday night and Sunday on the couch with my leg up and a heating pad on it. I don’t know what I did but it hurts!! It’s a little better today. Worked all day Saturday so i didn’t get much done besides some laundry.

    • Silver James says:

What have you done to your leg, woman?!? Take care of yourself. Crap. That’s what I forgot yesterday during my writing frenzy. Laundry. *sigh* Yeah, I’d better get on that. 😦

Got something to say?
