First Monday

funny-dog-pictures-not-ready-for-mondayI’ve been home from RWA for a week and I still feel like I’m playing catch-up. The last of mail-outs for NRCA certificates and trophies that weren’t picked up go out today. I still need to email the winners with their winners’ buttons.

It’s August. How is that even possible? School starts…like now…or over the next few weeks for almost everyone. This past weekend was Oklahoma’s Tax-Free Back-To-School Buy-Stuff weekend. I stayed away. 😆 I hate crowds even more than I love office supplies. Besides, I’m pretty stocked up with stuff at the moment.

Lawyer Guy and I took Only and Magic Bean Sprout out for lunch Saturday. I’d been up since early and pushed through more of chapter 1 for COWGIRL TOUGH, the working title for Red Dirt Royalty #3. As the first Saturday of the month, it was also siren test day so I went with LG to his “post” (he’s a member of a HAM radio group) and then we met TO and MBS. Baseball Boy works Saturdays at the library. I finished up chapter one when we got home and then took a four-hour nap. Crazy! I NEVER nap that long. It was 8:30 before I woke up and surprisingly, I was asleep by midnight. THAT doesn’t happen either. Just goes to show how tired I was. 😆

Yesterday, I finished Chapter 2 and got an idea for the beginning of Chapter 3. I hope to knock the whole chapter out today after I get back from errands. Then I just have to write a 4-6 page synopsis, a 4-6 synopsis of Chase’s book (he finds a *real* cowgirl in his bed. shifty-eyes-ani2faster Then I get to figure out Cash’s book and Kaden’s and decide which one I want to be the last of the Barron brothers. There are “Barron” cousins (last name Tate) so if the series is popular, there will be more to come. I hope to have that all knocked out this week. Uhm…yeah. I know I said my goal was to have it done last week but that’s before Clay turned into a complete PITA. My virtual trashcan was overflowing with the starts and stops to Chapter 1. I finally found the right place–and tone–to start to make him happy. Georgie, his heroine, is much easier to deal with.

I still hope to get on BLUE MOON soon. Antoine and his heroine, US Deputy Marshal DJ Collier, are both chaffing at the bit. My bikers are arguing over their origins so I’m letting them settle things. Yes, my mind is a very busy place. Scarily so. 😉

Some of you are headed to Authors After Dark this week. Have fun! And speaking of fun, who had some this weekend? What’s up with y’all? Who has fun plans for this week? Who has to work? *raises hand* … *wanders off to get more coffee*

  1. I have no idea where August came from. Lucky I realized it was coming and got the Kid’s birthday stuff out early. Otherwise, I’d be screwed. Man, time is flying this year. Is it ‘the older you are, the faster time goes’? Or ‘the busier’? Either way, it’s not looking good for me. LOL

I’ll be working right alongside ya. I’m only about a third of the way through this rewrite and I said I’d have it ready to send to people by 6 weeks from now. Then I had that story idea. Then I started this word-tweezing project… :collapses: Feels good to be productive, though.

I spent part of the weekend trying to snatch a picture of the hummingbirds. They’re really hitting the feeder lately – maybe beginning to store up the sugar for the trip south. But they’re so darn fast. Other than that, it was work and golf and baseball.

    • Silver James says:

For some reason, my hummers aren’t doing the feeder but they do like the flowers that are blooming. I have giant phlox, morning glories, and red petunias in bloom. So long as their happy, right? 😆

I can’t wait to hear more about the new project but get those words tweezed first! Sounds like you have “insider knowledge” on something so go, Go, GO!

      • No, no insider knowledge. Just a wealth of irrational exuberance – probably from having some kind of direction to point myself in.

Exactly. As long as they’re happy. Not sure if my hummers are happy, though. They seem too violent to be really happy. They’ve been trying to kill each other by chasing each other into the picture window today.

I spent the weekend scheduling blog post and getting ready to head to Charlotte for AAD. Will drive part way tonight after work. Luckily have family in the Knoxville area,so crashing with them tonight. I cleaned some, but not nearly enough. I know how I’ll spend the day once I get home.

We are getting closer to closing on my grandmother’s house. All prayers and good thoughts for a speedy close are appreciated.

    • Silver James says:

Safe trip and enjoy yourself! As if you wouldn’t, 😆 Sending all good thoughts for a successful closing on the house!

And housework? Seriously? I’ve given up. 😉

Silver, you wear me out just reading what your up too. Geez! My head was spinning and don’t know how you keep it all straight. I have enough trouble doing one story at a time.

I don’t write on weekends, mainly cause I want to spend time with the hubsters. So that’s what I did…mostly. I am re-reading Outlander and freakin excited for Saturday. 😀 Told hubsters the tv was mine that night!

    • Silver James says:

I try not to write on weekends, too, but I have so many characters and stories that have taken up residence in my brain, I need to get them written so I’ll have some peace and quiet! I don’t usually like to divide, but this is a case of divide and conquer to get everything written. Getting it down so I can edit individually is the key! 😀

  4. Worked on the finally touches of old house, pics should be taken today and should have for sale sign in front yard the next few days, I have faith a buyer is out there – ready to start their own memoires in the house, just gotta stay positive.
Booked my vacay for right before Thanksgiving, gotta take advantage of the holiday day’s off, going to Vegas. I’m excited, and it will be here before we know it. Hope to get some writing done there!
    August already??
Well have a great day, wranglering characters— Silver =)

    • Silver James says:

Crossing fingers the right family comes along. Houses should be loved. Vegas?!? Only been there once–for a reader/writer event so only saw the place from the airport to the hotel. We never left the hotel until it was time for our flight and then Only and I drove to Hoover Dam because…Hoover Dam. 😆 Have a great time and November is supposed to be a nice time–not so hot out! May it give you lots of inspiration. 😀
