Life and the Universe

universe When this popped up in my inbox, I did sort of get a chill–and when you’re my age anything that counteracts the hot flashes is appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜‰ But you know, the Big U is right. Too many (myself included more often than I’d like) worry about what others are going to think or say about us. I bite my tongue instead of lashing out. I stew and rant silently rather than acting the internet troll. In the long run, I–and so many others!–can live with that. But when push comes to shove, this is very true. I’ve got to be me. And you need to be you.

Life is a chance to do things your way, Silver; not the cheapest way, not the most popular way, and not how others think you should.

And a very, very, very precious chance, at that.

Got chills?

Keep calm, Silver, and get Notes from the Universe.

All of which puts me in mind of a song. As Frank sang it so poignantly:

  1. Ah, gotta love Frank. =o)

Yes, indeed, for all my bluster about not giving a hoot about what other people think, I do worry too much about what other people think. But I’m getting better. Of course, there’s the other side of my coin where I don’t think about other people before I say something (or type it) and then afterwards, I get all angsty worrying whether I’ve just offended someone unintentionally. Usually, if I think I’ve offended a friend, I apologize… and they chortle after telling me I worry too much. It’s a vicious circle.

And hey, rather than stew and rant silently, come sit by me and we’ll rant together. ;o)

It’s sort of human nature, B.E. and we are conditioned to it, sometimes in the most subtle of ways. I tend to put the dogs outside and then rant at the TV. ๐Ÿ˜† But if I ever want company, I’ll grab my coffee and we can send a chorus out to the Universe. You know the offer is reciprocated, right?

That is some very wise advice. It’s something I tried to instill in my kids, because of that, they don’t do things the normal way and don’t fit in with the crowd…but they also have their own mind. And fitting in with the crowd is not always a great thing. Something to be said for not raising sheep. hehe

When I was younger, I worried about what people thought, but I don’t care anymore. I like to do what I do, and think what I think, and I don’t much care what others think. I think we can do that and still not hurt other people. ๐Ÿ™‚

With age comes…something! ๐Ÿ˜† It’s not always wisdom but more a sense of self and being comfortable in our own skins. Giving our kids that sort of base is one of the best things we can do for them. *nods*

  3. Worrying about the thoughts of others from my actions or no actions at all, have been ingrained in my makeup( and many others) for all long as I can remember. So I’ve
held back on alot, not to stir up stuff especially with my mom- and sadly now that she is gone, (it was mom’s way, her control and everyone else was wrong) so in the last 2 yrs I have been embracing Me, I’m unique far from ordinary-lol- normal is overrated!!!
It’s still a work in progress to undo some old ways- but I’m proud to be heading in the this is how Kimber rolls now mode =)
    Thanks for the topic reminder.
    Have a great day Girlie . =)

Hope your day was a good one, Kimber, and that Friday and the weekend is tops for you! ๐Ÿ˜€ And yay for finding “you!” That’s a very good person to be.
