Friday Free-for-All

Friday!I don’t really have anything to say. The one cool YouTube I found this week, I posted on my FB page because I know far more Dr. Whovians over there than here. No cute puppies or kitties. No music videos. So…I’m going to free associate my way through this blog.

Character surprises:
Nikos Constantine, the dragon from Penumbra Papers, is left-handed. Yes, I AM missing that world and really need to get back into it. First things first.

From Moonstruck, Mac McIntire’s childhood and teen years surprised the hell out of me and there’s a crossover there to the Nightriders series. I can’t say anything because it’s a surprise. Yeah, yeah. I’m all evil like that. 😉

I found a model for The Russian from the Nightriders. Sergei sort of looks like Maksim Chmerkovskiy. I found a model who I thought was Maks, only it’s not. Which is cool. 🙂

Duke Reagan, from MOON SHOT and the Hard Target series, has an interesting run-in at the end of MOON SHOT.

New Project:
I woke up early Thursday morning and hand-wrote a quick scene about a wounded warrior and a lost woman finding each other at Christmas. I’m going to write it and send it to Mr. HarlEd to see if they might want it for next Christmas. Yeah, yeah. Like I have time to write anything else. This would be a shorty–maybe a free read for the Harlequin website or something. Or a freebie for here.

TV:
The last season of LOST GIRL starts in January. This makes me have a sad but I’m asking for Season 4 for Christmas. (Already have the first three seasons.) LONGMIRE has been picked up by NetFlix. I guess that means I’ll have to subscribe to NetFlix. Or something. 😦

Favorite line(s) I wrote this week:

“Push, Annie. I know it’s like forcing a fuckin’ basketball through a tube of toothpaste, but you can do this, girl. Damn Wolves and their big heads.” Hannah held Annie’s hands without a grimace as the pregnant woman squeezed the blood from her fingers.

“The baby’s female,” Sean gritted out between clinched teeth.

“Oh, yeah. My mistake. A fuckin’ soccer ball then.”

“Not helping, Hannah.”

So, since this is a free-for-all, what do you want to talk about, share, do, see, hear, etc? Oh, and have a great weekend!

Free-for-alls are good. Sometimes you don’t need a topic. I think that’s what I’m using my Mondays for since honestly, who can really think clearly on Monday?

Are you sure you need ANOTHER project on your shoulders? Just sayin’.

Me? I’m going bat-shit-crazy. Trying to figure out when to do what with the biz side of writing is like chasing my tail. I’m sooo close to nailing down a hard pub date for FUEL. As soon as I do that, I want to get pre-orders up and do a cover reveal for FUEL. I set up appt for author headshots, cause I had none. Set up createspace account. Talked to Draft2Digital…thanks for that tip. They are nice. Figured out I don’t need to buy any ISBN’s for what I want to do do – YAY! Figured out last night that my cover artiest might not be able to work with the images I bought for WRECK – BOO!

In the meantime, I finishing up final edits on FUEL.

The biz side will all come together, Ash! Promise. Sorry about the pics though. That’s weird that your cover artist is having trouble with them untless the pixels are off or something. I leave all that to Only.

As for another project, when I get a scene that hits me so strong I can hand-write it out– LEGIBLY–in less than ten minutes, it’s a keeper. I might roll this over into Hard Target and make it a Hard Target Christmas novella. Two birds-one manuscript. 😀

  2. Damn that snippet almost had me snort my coffee-lol
I’m at the airport my flight leaves at 9:30, so I’m peep watching and gonna read some.
    Have a great weekend =)

  3. Yay for character surprises! I can’t wait to be surprised, too! And hooray for shiny, new ideas! Even though you’re probably up to your eyeballs in shiny, previous ideas.

    Awesome line! Can not wait.

Free for all? Oh, honey, you so do not want to give me that kind of leeway for behavior. LOL Anyway, totally off the cuff, I took Hubs to get his haircut earlier this week and the stylist had a friend there chatting with her. The stylist herself had multi-colored hair which was kinda scary, but her friend… Whoa. He had half a sort of burnt-orange and the other jet-black hairstyle that was spikey-uppy, a ripped shirt and tie-dyed leggings with black combat boots. I thought I’d been transported back to the mid-80s. Talk about a time warp. In fact, he kinda looked like a friend I had in college. Heh, those were the days. LOL
