Monday After a Holiday

Christmas was 4 days ago. I was sick. Oh, I managed to get through the last-minute rush, Christmas Eve preparations and family dinner, Christmas morning Santa Claus, and family lunch at the in-laws before coming home to collapse Christmas afternoon and sleep for a couple of days. I’m mostly better now but dang if I’m not behind! I’ll get caught up this week. Because…it’s the end of the year. Time to finish off the old and get ready for the new, right?

First, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week, no matter what winter celebration you enjoy. Santa was good to me–Amazon cards, iTunes cards, Starbucks. Iffy got me new sleep pants to work in. And my Inner Editor got me a new magnetic white board with fresh markers. I’ll get the wall next to my desk rearranged this week. Stop laughing. I will!

Second, holy cannoli! I have a Harlequin release coming out January 6th. Stand by for much promotion and giveaways. I have Cowgirl Goodies™ to dispense.

Third, while I was sick, I read. And being sick, not every book waiting on my Kindle would work. I looked at the new stuff and went…uhm…no. 😦 Yes, I’m a comfort reader. But then I realized Dannika Dark had a new book out in her Seven series. This is a paranormal/wolf shifter series that I really enjoy. But starting New Year’s Day, there will be a new Goodreads Reader’s Challenge starting. I’m well over the 200 books in my challenge for this year but some were re-reads, which Goodreads disallows. 😛 So, I plan to reread the previous books: Seven Years, Six Months, and Five Weeks before I start Four Days on Jan. 1st. Sensing a trend there? 😆 I also got WRITTEN IN RED by Anne Bishop on sale for the Kindle. I’m DYING to reread it! BUT….yeah, there’s always a but, right? The third book in her Others series comes out right after my birthday. Yes, it’s already pre-ordered. I don’t want to reread RED now, followed by the second book, because I’d HAVE to reread the second book. I’m trying to wait until closer to release date so I can reread both and fall right into the 3rd book. LOVE this series! I thought about rereading a couple of other series I really like but nothing just…jumped out. Then I started having trouble with the Fire. The power cord has to be “just right” in order for it to charge. 😦 Luckily, I have my iPhone and my very old iPad, both with Kindle Apps. So, I grabbed the iPad. And guess what was waiting when I opened the Kindle app…NAKED IN DEATH. My chicken soup book. At some point, I’d opened it on the iPad to look up a quote in the book and never closed it out. I ❤ this book so much! And so I read it. And now I'm ready GLORY IN DEATH, and I'll keep reading through IMMORTAL IN DEATH because that's got one of my favorite scenes between Summerset and Eve and oh, yeah…Eve and Roarke's wedding so…d'uh! Then I'll go back and read the Seven series. I love when a book plan comes together.

So, what plans to y'all have this week? What books did you get for Christmas? What are you dying to read in the New Year? And before I forget, don't forget to sign up for Harlequin's COWGIRLS DON’T CRY Goodreads Giveaway. Today is the last day to get your name in the hat for 1 of 24 copies! Just click on the title here, go to the Goodreads page, scroll down and click ENTER TO WIN. Easy peasy!

It says the giveaway is not open on Goodreads. Sigh.
Welcome back and hope you are feeling better. Still haven’t gotten my cards out. Will try!!LOL It’s ok if they show up after New Year’s right????
I was in B&N yesterday and saw that there is a new In Death book out. Whipped out my phone and downloaded it to my Nook. that’s what I’m reading.

I thought it ran through midnight tonight. Sorry. 😦 But trust me, there will be lots of opportunities to win a paperback copy! Plus, you can always just mark it “To Read” on Goodreads! 🙂 Wait! New In Death book?!? Which one? *scurries off to Amazon to check*

  2. It looked fine to me, bookwyrm. Sometimes Goodreads is hinky. Oh, and I noticed they’ve got your Mills and Boon listing up at Goodreads, too, Silver. Yay. I’ll be able to recommend it to my ‘across the pond’ friends. =o)

Sorry you were feeling craptastic over the holiday. :hugs: Here’s to getting that out of the way so you can enjoy the new year. And… I am so not ready for 2015. It seems like only a little while ago I was saying I wasn’t ready for 2014, and now its gone. Now a whole new year is three days away and it’s looking particularly busy. But that’s a good thing. I guess.

I had planned to get back to work on editing Wrongful Termination so it’ll be ready to send to my editor when she’s got her next open spot. But that was last week and I still haven’t opened the file. Today. Today will be the day. (Which is what I said yesterday before I got wrapped up in a Harry Potter marathon.) The only book I got myself for Christmas was a little something called Moonshot. ;o) I’m definitely looking forward to reading that in the new year.

    • Silver James says:

I’m not ready either. And speaking of Goodreads, can you double check to see that the cover for MOON SHOT is linking? I added it but I always mess up. *headdesk* Can’t wait to hear what you think about MS! But get to work first! Yeah, yeah, me, too, but I’m still playing catch up. 😦

So sorry you were sick over Christmas. So many people were sick this year. Me, I just have a cold. Which, as you know, can suck your get-up-an-go right out of you. Hoping you are on the mend.

And yay for release day! I’m so excited for you! If you need help promoting, let me know. 🙂 I’ll paint the town with your books. You’re welcome to take over my blog for a day if you’d like.

Man, I wish I could read. It seems the more I write and edit, the harder it is for me to get into stories. I dunno if I’m just picky or what. But so many I open, and I’m like eww. *sighs* There are a bunch coming out in January and a friend of mine has one coming out tomorrow. Her first. I think you would like her book. Unexpected Eden by Rhenna Morgan.

Oh and for Christmas, I got Harry Potter stuff and Harley stuff. haha

    • Silver James says:

I can’t write unless I’m reading. 😆 Well, unless I’m close to deadline and doing that whole muppet flail thing because time is short. Thanks on the offer to help! I have two blog stops lined up, Sunday the 4th and Jan. 12th. I’d appreciate some general pimpage and links! You rock. Of course, that goes for you when your release happens. 😀 I’ll check out Rhenna’s book. 🙂

  4. Liza says:

I totally re-read Naked in Death this weekend! So wanted to keep going with the series, but have too many review books to do it. I actually did a re-read for the 2nd time this year for a blog post, so I could totally justify the reading time as part of my blog work…no really I did.

I’ll have my Cowgirl post up during release week. 🙂

    • Silver James says:

Liza, great mnds and all that! LOLOL And you rock! I saw your early rating on Goodreads. THANKS! 😀

I’ve given up trying to justify rereading NAKED. Thank goodness I have it digital, otherwise, both the paperback and hardback would have pages falling out! 😉
