Monday…It’s Here.

Here’s a quick wrap up of my weekend…and last week.

We survived the storms, dodging between tornadoes and remaining mostly on high ground though streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes are at near flood levels. That’s good. Mostly. We’ve been experiencing severe drought conditions for several years, to the point that some lakes were 35 feet below normal. Yeah, we pretty much made up a lot of that in a week’s time. CRAZY! And speaking of crazy, this is a pic I took between storms one day last week. The sky was that weird dirty peach color and there was a full double rainbow so large I couldn’t get both ends with my iPhone camera.

Saturday, we had to backtrack on our way to Mountain View for the book signing. The bridge was out. Luckily, I was only a few minutes late. The Addie Davis Memorial library was very cozy, with readers sitting down in the signing room with us and visiting. I sold a few books, made some new friends, and Blue had a blast. Here he is wearing his I ❤ Mom tee shirt.

And again at Meers, Oklahoma where we had the fabulous and famous Meers burgers followed by pecan cobbler and homemade ice cream. I shouldn’t eat for the next week but dang was the food good!

We dashed in between thunderstorms and when we’d finished, the sun had come out so we could meander through the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. Only got pictures of buffalo, long horns, flood waters, and wild flowers. It was a marvelous day and many thanks to Mrs. Lightfoot, the Mountain View library, and community!

Sunday was a kick-back day followed by dinner with LG, Only, BB, and Stormageddon at our favorite BBQ place. Storm decided everything tastes better with BBQ sauce, including green beans and fried okra. 😉

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Happy Mother’s Day to the moms, and Happy Just Because Day to everyone else. What did y’all do?

  1. I’m so glad you made it through the storms okay. That was some freaknasty radar you had going on over there. Sounds like despite the weather, you had a good weekend. Yay! Happy Mother’s Day to you, too!

It was quiet here – as usual. Called Mom, and the Kid is over there for the weekend, so I talked to them both. Twofer! Then I made a hot milk sponge cake! It’s weird to be so excited about a cake, but I haven’t had one turn out in 14 years. Something about the altitude in CO and UT. But MO is perfect and I had an actual cake instead of a weirdly textured, overly thick cookie. This gave me a happy. Nothing much else going on except getting ready for book launch. Just a bit more proofreading and a little more formatting. Should still be able to release on the 18th. Yay!

Yeah, it’s pretty wicked when you can pick up the hook echoes with the naked on on the TV radar. 😆 Yay for the sponge cake. I’ve never had much luck with them, no matter the altitude. Maybe it’s the attitude too! 😆

Definitely YAYAYAY for book launching on the 18th! You go, girl! ❤

I went for a walk early yesterday morning. Trying to get ready to walk all over NY at RWA, so have to start now to be ready. I spent the rest of the day kicked back reading. I don’t get many weekends when I can just do nothing but read, and I enjoyed every minute of it this weekend.

    • Silver James says:

Lets don’t discuss walking in NYC. 😆 That’s my least favorite part and I really need to get in shape, too. I want to do some sightseeing this time. *eyes gazelle warily* I want another weekend where I can just curl up and read. We all need to do that once in awhile!

I missed posting yesterday, it was one of “those” days. (not Monster just other life stuff) We got tons of rain too. Drummurgurl couldn’t get home Friday night because all the roads were flooded. Hubs went to her in his big 4×4. Even that had trouble getting through some of the high water. Crazy Okie weather!

Glad you had a great weekend. Nice to have good ones like that, minus the storms.

Got something to say?
