Monday, Also…Monday

dear-monday-i-want-to-breakup-im-seeing-tuesday-and-dreaming-about-friday-sincerely-its-not-me-its-you-9bb80There was a weekend. I had OKRWA meeting Saturday. I meant to do some writing for a flash fiction challenge. No. Really. I was going to. But then I got home and we had to sweep and run the vacuum because Stormeggedon was coming over. Except the vac burned through a belt because there was so much dog hair and other crud wrapped around the roller brush it wouldn’t turn. Oh, and the filters were clogged. Dealt with that. Stormy arrived. We played ball. The kid has an arm. Given his parents, this is not a surprise. Given that he’s not even two yet (and won’t be for another seven months), it is a huge surprise at how hard and accurate he throws. He also ate hot dogs. Four of them. And two soft pretzels. And some apple slices. He loves McDonald’s commercials and the stupid Steak-n-Ale commercial with the weird dude in the red coat with kung fu elbow. If you have not seen this commerical, don’t ask. If you have seen it, you don’t need to ask.

Sunday, I stayed in bed. Almost all day. I don’t know why. I did a RIZZOLI AND ISLES marathon because I had almost the whole season DVR’d. It was fun. I have one more episode to go (stopped when the Cardinals’ game came on) and I’ll be good to go with the new episode Tuesday night, except the Cards are playing so it’ll hit my DVR. Again.

I also did some reading. Finished Ilona Andrews’ newest release, MAGIC SHIFTS, in the Kate Daniels series. I liked it. I was a little disappointed in that there wasn’t that much Kate and Curran time, but that’s okay. I still liked it. I always worry that a series with that many books will…peter out. Or jump the shark. Other series have. I’m pleased say this series is not one of them. So far anyway. I read Jen Apodaca’s EXPOSING THE HEIRESS. LOVED Hunt! Such a cool contrast that he’d been a Marine sniper but was also an artist. Lyssie is a lucky heroine. Dove into probably the last Kristen Ashley book I’ll read until the next CHAOS book cones out. Jacob “Deck” Decker is one of those heroes the piqued my interest. As soon as I discovered he had his own book, I glommed onto it but had to wait until it was available from the library. I also read Paige Tyler’s latest in her Dallas SWAT series (werewolf pack makes up the SWAT team for DPD). I liked the second better than the first, but was glad it came from the library too.

Today is Get My Arse Back in Gear Day. I have three chapters and a synopsis to write on RDR#4. I need to get that puppy done and out of the way so I can get back on DEVIL’S CUT (Penumbra Papers #3), and all the other stuff I had planned for this year. Remind me not to be so ambitious. It just means I can’t dick around. I have to actually stay off the internet and get words down. So…this is me getting busy.

What the heck did y’all do over the weekend?

  1. Monday mondayed all over me today. I woke up at 3:45am to find we had no internet and no phones. (Actually, didn’t care about the phone, but it made it more irritating to call about no internet.) We finally got both back a little while ago – just in time for a nap. Now I’m nap-hungover and tired, but I have internet, so it’s all good, baby.

Weekend? There was a weekend in there somewhere? I vegged out for the most part. Then last night, I got to work entering my edit notes for Bloodflow because it needs to be to my editor for first pass-through next month. (I’d squee about her, but I’m not sure if she’s ready to be outed as a professional editor online yet.)

I haven’t gotten to Jenn’s ETH yet, but I did read Caged Magic. WOW. Then I read a friend of mine’s debut novelette, Black Magic & Mojitos by A.A. Chamberlynn, which rocked pretty hard. THEN I read Allison Brennan’s Best Laid Plans in paperback. Awesomesauce. Now I need to get back to rocking my own writing. And tomorrow’s release day. Woot.

Yeah, the whole no ‘net’/no phone thing drives me ranting bonkers. Graned, that’s a short drive. LOL I bet I can guess who your editor is but won’t say until she’s ready to out herself. I have all those books on my TBR pile. Well, except the one by your friend but I need to check it out. Writing first though. I need to get right on that… *looks shifty-eyed*

Got something to say?
