Monday Squared

IgnoreMondayCatI wish I could but I sort of took the weekend off. Saturday was a stay-in-bed-read-and-nap day. All day. I’m still fighting this stupid respiratory crud. I should have been working the edits my editor sent for THE BOSS AND HIS COWGIRL. I’m not quite half-way done and it’s due back this Wednesday. So far, he’s really liked most of it. This is good. Between lack of sleep and med head, I’m not sure I can do justice to a major revision.

We had snow Saturday. Sort of. Not enough to freeze on the roads but enough to sort of cover the ground. It was cloudy and cold and a good day to stay in bed. As noted above. Yesterday, I slept in, did some research for a project, wrote this blog, and got a little editing in.

Reading: I did some. Two Thea Harrison books–the latest in her Elder Races series. SHADOW’S END left me in tears. LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN helped a little. I also read an historical anthology, THE LAST CHANCE CHRISTMAS BALL with Mary Jo Putney and Jo Beverly headlining. There were 8 stories and this is the first anthology I’ve read in awhile where I enjoyed all of them. The editor deserves massive kudos. I’m not a big historical reader but I saw this in either a new release or recommend book list and it caught my attention. My library had a copy so…*snatch*. I’m glad I did. I know I’ve read some other stuff but without Goodreads open or my Kindle, I couldn’t tell you. I’m ahead on my GR reading challenge so that’s good.

TV: Haven’t watched THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES yet. I should probably do that before the next episode to see if I want to continue DVRing it. While I haven’t read the books, I found it interesting that the author of the series is consulting in the production. I’m waiting for THE MAGICIANS on SyFy (sort of a dark and contemporary Harry Potter is college age) and LUCIFER on Fox. Yes, that Lucifer. He moves to LA and wreaks havoc. Fun times! Both start around the 25th, I think.

And that’s about the sum total of my week, weekend, and whatnot. The coming week is edits, getting health back to normal, and hopefully, the continuation of the proposal for RDR#7. And more reading. I also need to pick out an audiobook for my free credit from Audible for January. Anybody have suggestions?

What did y’all do this weekend? Any plans for the upcoming week? Whatever you do, stay healthy!

  1. Ugh. My brain seems to be on revolt this morning. Well, not just this morning, but I’m feeling it today. I had some tech stuff to do for Mom over the weekend. Totally forgot until last night when I was getting ready for bed. Woke up late and did it quick, so here’s hoping it’s right. And I’m not even sick.

Anyway, I hope you feel better soon so you can get all your stuffs done. Glad you didn’t get any major snow. Also glad you got some reading done. I’m staying away from Shannara on MTV. I have read the books and from what I’ve seen of the casting, they picked my favorite to base the TV show on. Every time I see photos, I’m all like ‘but they don’t LOOK like that’. You’ll probably have more fun with the show since you haven’t read the books.

Over the weekend, I finished making edit notes for FG and started inputting the editor notes for IDW. I read a lot. JB Lynn’s latest Hitwoman book totally rocks. (I have an ARC. It’s due out on Friday.) The first book in my reading resolution disappointed me about 11% in, but I’ll finish it because that’s what I committed to do. I also worked on a couple 50 word blurbs for BloodFlow and for Dying Embers. See if shorter and zippier helps sales. Can’t hurt.

Saw your post on those zippy blurbs. “Thanks,” she said sarcastically. Now I have more stuffs to do 😉 I hit a snag on my edits and now I’m procrastinating. Which is bad. Very, VERY bad! I think I’ll go take a hot shower, maybe run some errands, see if I can figure out the fix my editor wants. It’s that or crawl back into bed and pull the covers over my head. Not an option. 😦

Why yes, it IS Monday all day! 😆

  2. Joining you on the sick front – it’s not too bad. Mostly feel lethargic with a mild sore throat, which is worse at night due to lack of swallowing and dry air :/ My voice is very sexy. True story: while working with a cold I have, on several occasions, gotten repeat calls from people. One guy eventually told me it was my voice. Dork.
Haven’t seen Shannara yet either, waiting for a time when the whole family has 2 hours to sit down together. I might be biased, I read the first 6-7 books when I was young (Jr. High if memory serves), but I loved them. Of course a few things went over my head back then. I read through things so fast then I missed a lot. I was just eager to get into fantasy worlds – I didn’t realize it was future, dystopia-esque. I am really looking forward to it though – haven’t heard, or seen, any comments/reviews since it aired. Have you?

Ah well, off to find a warm spot on the couch and rest up. Hope you feel better.

Got something to say?
