Monday and Editing Cat

dont-look-editingRed Dirt Royalty #7 hit THE END yesterday. Now to spend today and tomorrow working on continuity, typos, language, flow, and story. Easy peasy. 🙄 Needless to say, when a writer is under a contracted deadline, we get a little squirrely. Okay. We get a lot squirrely. Okay. I get a lot squirrely.

So, what’s going on in the rest of reality? Yeah…I don’t want to go there either. Oh! It’s only 16 days until Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training. Baseball is good. *nods* And that pretty much sums up sports at the moment. I know the Super Bowl is next week. *yawn* I usually only watch for the commercials and I was sorely disappointed last year. Luke Bryan has been tapped to sing the National Anthem and since the game is on Fox, we might actually get to see him sing it.

Reading: It’s contest reading season so most of the books on my reading list can’t be mentioned. Ah well. I have glommed onto a new-to-me author and book that is…well, it’s weird to call a fantasy about gryphon attacks delightful, but this one is. There’s some romance. There are warriors (Riders) who–wait for it–RIDE magical beasts, including one dragon rider. There’s scheming and family drama and the author’s voice is…delightful. I’m about halfway through and wishing I had more time to read. If you get the chance, glom onto HEARTSTONE, the debut historical fantasy by Elle Katharine White.

TV: Nope. Not going there. Every time I turn it on, seems I just get pissed off. When I’m not writing, I’m reading. The shows I care about are DVR’d. I’ll catch up on them soon. OH! Speaking of commercials, who has seen the newest Subaru Dog-tested ad where the Golden couple’s windshield is getting splattered with gobs of goo? The only thing that would have made it better would be if the dog in the car in front of them had been a Newf. I know. I’m so easily entertained. 😆

Oh, in case anyone is curious, RDR#7-Deacon came in at a few stray words over 49K. I’ll know the final count tomorrow. Until then, send coffee! And that’s pretty much my life. What’s going on in your neck of the woods?

  1. YAY for you! I knew you’d get that sucker done! Just like I know you’ll get this last bit done. Squirrelly? Squirrely? Squirrel-y? You know, you type the word squirrel enough and it begins to look really bizarre. (And in case you couldn’t tell, I am also squirrely right now.)

Yeah, I’m not inclined to want to deal with the rest of reality either. Football season is over for me. Bring on the baseball! And golf has started. (As long as baseball and golf don’t go the way of football this past season, I’ll be good.)

Reading… Well, you know. The only book I read last week was your Crash & Burn. This week should be better once I get this round of edits done. Let’s not talk about television at all. I’m sticking to old movies, true crime shows, fishing shows, and the few reality shows I still like. I haven’t seen that Suburu commercial yet. I’ll try to keep an eye out for it so I can un-mute the TV.

Here? Editing. I need to go fishing so I can bleed off the anger and frustration I’m feeling. The weather’s supposed to warmer today. If I get at least 65 pages edited, I’ll go. That’ll leave me about that many pages to edit tomorrow and I’ll be home free. :fingers crossed:

    • Silver James says:

Do you watch LIVE PD? It’s on…A&E? Friday nights. It could be it’s on drinking game due to the host but watching the live shots from like 8 different police departments is a pretty realistic look at police life. Oh, and NIGHT WATCH, from New Orleans. EMS, Cops and Fire. Of course, I love NOLA so… 🙂 But yeah. What you said re: TV.

      • I started to watch LIVE PD that first episode, but it seemed like all hype and very little actual stuff happening, which I guess the reality of police life is long periods of boredom interspersed with furious activity. I prefer First 48. NIGHT WATCH is a little grody for me. Mom loves it, though LOL. Funny, I can sit through hours of watching Dr. Pol work on grodier things with animals, but people gross me out way more.

BTW, went fishing AND got 76 pages edited. Yesterday for the win.

Got something to say?
