Memorial Day 2017

As you picnic, suntan, BBQ or otherwise celebrate this holiday Monday, take a moment to remember the men and women who died fighting for your rights to do so. And if you are out and about and see an American Legion volunteer with a board of poppies, stop to make a donation and wear your poppy with pride, knowing that they’ll use your money to help our veterans who made it home alive.

Ah, next year I will wear a poppy this day. I grew up in the British tradition, poppies are for Armistice Day (Flanders Field).

  2. I stayed home and hid. And I’m indebted to the people who fought to protect my right to do that.
