Dude, It’s Monday

I laugh every time I see this meme. It’s so very true! And funny. And I wake up every Monday feeling (and looking!) like one or the other of these two. I’ve even awakened with Adidas (a look-alike for the cat) draped across my head. That would make me the dog in this photo.

So, the weekend. There was one. There were play-off NFL football games. Teams won. I’ll have to check my Fox Sports app before I post this to find out who’s going to the Superbowl. I don’t have a dog in that hunt so…*shrug* There was Bedlam basketball, men and women both. OSU beat OU in both. That’s awesome. But I don’t watch basketball. 😆 Good thing there’s only 21 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training! Yay.

I read and listened to books. Now that the Kindle World books are on Kindle Unlimited, I’m going back and reading all of the books in Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha world. Yes, I am comparing their stories to mine. I want to find what seems to really work and what might not work as well so I can write better stories. I have book coming out in Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors series in April and my 4th book in Susan’s world in July. I want them to be better than the ones already published. I finished up listening to two of Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling anthologies that were available to listen to for free on my Audible Romance subscription. That puppy has paid for itself so far! Tuesday, the latest book in Michelle Sagawa’s Chronicles of Elantra come out. I’m excited! Christine Feehan’s JUDGEMENT ROAD also releases Tuesday. I have a hold for the ebook version at the library. I’m like 46 out of something. The audio book isn’t available. If it were, I’d spend a credit for it. Since it’s not, I’ll wait until my turn comes up at the library. Don’t ask me why this makes a difference. It just does.

“The Alienist” starts tomorrow night. I’ll watch because while dark, I find the story line fascinating. I read Caleb Carr’s books THE ALIENIST (2006) and THE ANGEL OF DARKNESS (2010), which are the basis for the TNT series, and enjoyed them.

That’s about the sum total of my life right now. Books: reading/listening and writing. Waiting for baseball. Watching LIVE PD on the weekends and the occasional show during the week. Can you believe there are some people who think the live of a romance novelist is glamorous?

How was your weekend? Anything exciting? Reading a good book? Watch a good movie?

  1. What? It’s all glamour, all the time. Right? Eating bon bons on the couch whilst the words come lightly tripping off one’s fingers. ROFL. More like Joan Wilder finishing a book and then wandering the super-messy house in her scruffy clothes looking for a tissue when there are none. That’s the most accurate description of a writer I’ve seen.

The weekend passed in the same fashion as the previous weekdays. I read some more of Shogun, edited some pages, watched a lot of Live PD. I went out and got some fresh air, but with the rise in temperatures came the chance of ticks and snakes, so I stayed out of the woods for the most part. This week will be better for woods work again. I had an uneventful fishing trip, but it turned out to be a most excellent bird-watching trip. And then last night, we got thunderstorms and one tornado about an hour north of here. Fun fun.

We missed the storm front entirely, but for the crazy wind that followed. Lots of grass fires and with 40+ gusts, some threatened to go wild. And yeah, Joan Wilder in ROMANCING THE STONE was pretty close. 😆 Should I be sorry I’ve turned you onto LIVE PD?

      • LOL, Live PD wasn’t your fault. There was just nothing else on and so we tried it and now we’re hooked. But yeah, some of the hooked is because there is NOTHING else on and some is because I don’t have to focus too hard on the show. And it’s a hoot sometimes. Ya know?

We have the wind now. It’s pretty gnarly out there.
