Have I mentioned that I HATEHATEHATE Daylight Savings Time? We’ve been on it so long I don’t even remember what time it’s supposed to be! And my body doesn’t care. It’s still screwed up from the Fall change. Somebody in power, PLEASE pick a time. Make it official. All freaking year long! *huffs out a breath* Okay. Moving on.
There’s a new week stretching before us. This week includes the Ides of March (Thursday) and St. Patrick’s Day (Saturday). St. Patrick’s Day should never fall on a Friday or a Saturday. Too many fools out there. Just sayin’. And I suppose that since I’m not Julius Caesar, I shouldn’t worry about the Ides but I do. Because that’s how I roll. With this in front of us, what was behind?
Writing: I finished the damn book. Finally. Except maybe not. I’m editing and revising today and will send it to beta readers and editor for input. I sort feel like I should include one more scene with all the sexy bits, because there’s really only one real scene with all the sexy bits, but at the same time, I reallyREALLY like the way the last chapter ended, the epilogue starts, and the book ends. Original plans called for that second scene with all the sexy bits, so… We’ll see. As soon as edits are done and it’s out the door, I’m on to my next Red Dirt book. Along with a couple of others with looming deadlines. Good thing I can multitask. Mostly.
TV: I watched a little. I keep waiting for something to come along and really capture my attention but sadly, no. So, I’m sticking with the standbys: LUCIFER, THE ALIENIST, LIVE PD, and LETHAL WEAPON, which jumps the shark more times than not but I find the buddy-ness between Murtaugh and Riggs appealing despite the other deus ex machina shennaigans.
Reading: After finishing off Kristen Ashley’s Mystery Man series reread, I devoured the audio books of LAKE SILENCE, the latest installment in Anne Bishop’s The Others series, and Patricia Briggs BURN BRIGHT, in her Alpha & Omega series. I enjoyed both but neither were quite 5 stars for me. Still, a 4-star read lately is a real treat. I grabbed a Kindle Unlimited book, DANGEROUS DREAMS by J.C. McKenzie, the prequel novella in her Obsidian Flame series. The next book isn’t out with no release date set. I hope I remember to look for it. I like the worldbuilding and dragon shifters! I’m currently listening to NO IFS, ANDS, OR BEARS ABOUT IT, by Celia Kaye. It’s from the library. There are bear shifters and her voice reminds me a bit of Shelly Laurenston. Not a bad thing. After I finish it, I have no clue what I’ll read or listen to. Probably depends on what drops in from my library holds.
Sports: The Only’s high school girls’ basketball team lost state by 2 points. It was a heart-breaker but hey! They got there. Baseball Boy’s high school–the one where he’s teaching, not he one he graduated from–boys’ basket ball team made it to the state semi-finals. Not bad for a little Catholic HS. My Cards are winning some and losing some but this is spring training and the starters aren’t all playing together yet. There have been some real standouts that I’m looking forward to watching during the regular season.
And I think that about covers it for me. What did you do this weekend? Have plans for the upcoming week?
