Super Monday

This is the day I used to run down a list of my favorite Super Bowl commercials because for the past some years, that’s been my only reason for watching. I didn’t watch this year. Not really. I searched YouTube for the commercials that got leaked and posted a couple here last Friday. The M&M commercial made me gigglesnort. I’ll also admit i walked into the family room while the Audi commercial at the end of the 1st quarter. I’m just warped enough that it was kinda funny. And then I caught the Budweiser Dilly-Dilly Joust commercial with it’s Game of Thrones tie-in. *dies*

Okay, on to other things.

Reading/listening. I did a relisten to Christine Feehan’s JUDGMENT ROAD and then rolled over to the new release in her Torpedo Ink series, VENGEANCE ROAD. Dark and dirty. With lots of violence. This series is not for everyone. I enjoyed it for the most part. Then I picked back up on Lani Lynn Vale’s Hail Raisers series. I had to wait for my Hoopla loans to roll over to the new month. I get six books a month on my library card. These books are served with a side of crazysauce and there are giggles to be had. When I finish the next two, not sure what I’ll do. The most current book isn’t available as an audio book, nor is it available in any form from my library sources. Not sure I want to pay $4.99 for a book I’m not likely to reread. I also need to relisten to the Dream Man and Chaos series by Kristan Ashley. The Chaos MC and their president, Tack, is introduced in the first book, before he gets his own story in the 4th book. After that, he rolls over into the Chaos series. It’s a favorite series so it’s with some trepidation and sadness thatI approach the final book. Kristan has hinted that there might be some novellas along the way but no full books in the series timeline.

TV. I’m a broken record. Live PD. The Masked Singer.

And…that’s it for me. Did you watch the game? What was your favorite commercial if you did?

  1. I didn’t watch the game, but I saw a Budweiser commercial on another channel that made me gigglesnort – people were shooting arrows off a castle wall, sounds of screaming and dying in the background, then a knight walks up and asks them what they’re doing. Something about making sure everyone gets the new nutrition labels (which are attached to the arrows). It reminded me of Monty Python.

Yay for finding lots of books to read. Bummer about the one not being available in audio. =o\

Not much going on around here. Thanks for putting Wish in One Hand in your newsletter! I really appreciate it. :hugs: I made a homemade pizza yesterday, which is kind of big deal since I haven’t made one since we lived in CO. It was huge. One piece each was enough for the first round. A few hours later we each had another piece. I still haven’t made a lasagna. Maybe next time. But first, homemade turkey pot pie. And maybe homemade bread. =o)

The medieval Bud commercials–“Dilly dilly!”–crack me up. They are very Monty Pythonesque. I haven’t seen the one with the arrows but I’ll watch for it. The Game of Thrones tie-in to the one I caught left me sputtering with laughter. Also, I caught the NFL’s 100 Anniversary ad. It was hysterical and reminded me of why I USED to watch the NFL. All those classic players and none of the political crap.

  2. I don’t watch TV at all any more. I have so many distractions as it is. =/
I love the Hail Raisers series and her cover guys *sigh*
MC is still dominates reading on my Tablet.
Donna Grant had a new Dark Kings and New Reapers due ou this month So I’m have to park my Harley in the garage for a bit. lol And reread the books before these, to know whats happening.
I did write this weekend, between motorcycle rides 😉
    Its already February !!!
    Have a great day Ladies.

I already have Eli’s book pre-ordered. 😆 I think I’m going to load MYSTERY MAN on my Audible app and get started on my re-listen of the “prequels” that lead to the Chaos books. Or…maybe some of the In Death books, since CONNECTIONS IN DEATH hits my app and Kindle at midnight tonight. *sigh* So many books, so little time and decisions, decisions! Go ride while the weather’s nice! 😉

    Sliver,
I watched about two minutes of the first quarter, the last three minutes of the second quarter, none of the third quarter, and the last 30 seconds of the fourth quarter. The only reason I watched that was to gauge when to turn on my Uber Driver app to see if I could catch any ride requests.

Generally, this SB Sunday was a bust. I had only one rider that was heading to watch the SB at a bar (that he said had free burgers and hot dogs, BTW.) Most of my other pregame riders didn’t seem all that interested in watching. After the game, one rider reported she cancelled her planned SB watch party due to lack of interest. A friend of mine who was planning a watch party also cancelled (at about 5:00 PM) when no one else showed up.

Speaking of motorcycles, I saw a great deal of motorcyclists out enjoying the unseasonably warm (highs near 70 degrees) early February day here in Tulsa. It made me miss my Gold Wing, but I can’t make money on it–not that I made that much at all yesterday.

For a former video production person who has over 250 commercials either shot or edited (or both) under my belt, I was curiously uninterested in the new crop of over-hyped, over produced spots running this year. I watched more anime than sports yesterday and enjoyed it better.

Other than that, it’s merely SSDD.

Good to hear from you, KB! Hope you can make it down for the March meeting. 🙂

Yeah, I’m not sure why no one seemed to care but a whole bunch of people I know didn’t. Most of the commercials were a complete bust for me, too. The Bud Light, M&Ms, and, surprisingly, the NFL 100th season posted above were the best of the crop in my estimation. The rest? Ehh.
