Half-way Monday

Sadly, this is very true. I’m giving blood to the “vampires” around noon so I don’t get my normal quota of the caffeine stuffs this morning. Sadly, I haven’t given blood in years and years. I’m doing it now because there’s a big shortage and their doing free antibody tests. I’d like to know if I’ve had the beer flue or not. In other news…

I’m pretty much boycotting TV. They’ve pretty much pissed me off for a variety of reasons. I really try hard not to get political around the intrawebz but that’s getting harder and harder. Canceling Live PD was about the last straw. FYI, in a former life, I carried a badge. In fact, I’ve carried two badges–one as an investigator with a suburban police department and the other as an airport rescue firefighter. Every time someone I know jumps on a particular bandwagon and mouths off that other lives don’t matter is like a slap in my face. Moving on.

I have a new book out! I probably should have started off this update with that news but well…not enough coffee and the thought of someone sticking me with a needle later today… Anyway, MOONSTRUCK: BETRAYAL is now live lots of places. Just click on the cover pic or the title and head over to the nice folks at Books2Read where all the retail links that are live are listed. Go forth and grab it. Please? Momma needs to buy groceries next month. 😉

I finished up my relisten of Nalini Singh’s Psi-Changling: Trinity series with the lastest release, ALPHA NIGHT. Good book. I enjoyed it. As nothing new grabbed my attention, I’ve returned to my re-listen of JD Robb’s In Death series. Dallas and Roarke are pretty much my chicken soup read.

In other writing news, two new characters have presented themselves and I’ve started the “research” on them. They are Cajun Wolves, partners in crimelaw enforcement, and they’ve informed me of their names. One wears “Hawaiian” print shirts and his favorite is pink flamingoes on a black background. 🙄 The other is tall, dark, and broody. Now I need to find approprite heroines. I have the feeling these two will be fun to write. Gosh, I even have the titles of their respective books and that SELDOM happens. I ususally don’t figure out the title until about half-way. If I’m lucky. Anyway…

Speaking of Stormy, he came to stay for most of Tuesday while his dad did an interview. Baseball Boy decided to stay at the school where he’s currently teaching and coaching. We had a fun day. Then their AC went out so Stormy came back Thursday while his dad stayed home to wait on the AC repair guy. Stormy ended up spending the night because AC dude couldn’t make it and it was hot. It got fixed Friday so all is good. During this time, we also had a second guest, Daisy. Daisy is a blue heeler pup that is terribly energetic and terribly submissive. My boys didn’t quite know what to do with her besides growl, which made her go belly up and pee. 🤦‍♀️ Loki is just now deigning to foregive me. Cats hold grudges don’cha know, and he decided the puppy being here was all my fault. It wasn’t! A friend of LG had an out-of-town funeral and the entire family was going, therefore no place to park pupper. And they live 45 minutes away so we weren’t making that drive. We ALL breathed a big sigh of relief when they picked her up Saturday evening.

Speaking of LG, I grabbed the mail one day and as he has taken over our dining room as his home office, I passed by waving a flyer we got in the mail and the conversation went like this:

Me: Good grief. McDonald’s is doing delivery.
LG: Seriously?
Me: Seriously.
LG: McDelivery. *laughter*
Me: How’d you know?
LG: What?
Me: That they’re calling it McDelivery.
LG: Seriously?
Me: Seriously.
At which point we both burst out laughing.

The weekend was fun–mostly. Lawyer Guy and a couple of guys from his Legion post helped a Viet Nam vet’s widow move on Friday. I went over to help after I got MOONSTRUCK: BETRAYAL uploaded. It was hot, sweaty work and he took a tumble so once we got home, I put him on the couch and made a burger run to Braum’s. Saturday was kid soccer. Stormy scored some goals and help set up goals for other members of his team. It was awesome to watch all those different kids play as a team and watching all those different parents and grandparents getting along. As it should be. Saturday night was quiet. Last evening, the Post had a flag retirement ceremony. It was really cool! The local fire department was there for “fire watch”–old and damaged flags are burned after being retired. There was Boy Scout troop, a church youth group, and some veterans from the post.

So that was all the excitement in my world. What went on your little corner of the world? Are you healthy? Safe? Surviving?

  1. Good luck with the blood donation today. I did that once in college and was sicker than a dog afterwards. Apparently, I’m one of those people who needs all her blood. Don’t get me started on TV these days. Blerg. Yay for your new release! Read it and reviewed it on Goodreads. (I’ll try Amazon later this morning.) It was made of awesome. Yay for reading and story ideas. I’m definitely down with those books. Yay for Stormy time and for his awesome soccer stuffs. McDelivery? ROFL.

My little corner of the world was quiet. Thank goodness for that. I made pizza yesterday and am recovering from the 7 minutes of kneading today. Stupid shoulders. Other than that, not much going on. For some reason, I keep thinking today is Tuesday.

I kept thinking yesterday was Monday. But today is also Monday. So yuck! Yay for pizza, boo on the kneading pain. THANKS for the review. ❤

I stopped giving because I have deep veins and my blood clotted fast so they'd have to restick after about 1/2 pint. Blood is thinner now but the veins still deep so this won't be a regular thing. Mainly, it's for the COVID antibody test. LG doesn't give blood well either. It's a thing. 🙂

      Hang in there!

When I heard the news that Live PD had been cancelled, my first thought was, “Silver’s going to be pissed!” Such a ridiculous move on A&E’s part, but one I’m not surprised to see. Now, the calls for Paw Patrol to be cancelled… Are the snowflakes in the boardrooms at all the networks going to flush cop shows wholesale like the Western purge in the 70s? What cracks me up is that many of those shows are produced by liberals (Dick Wolfe.) I pretty much stick to anime nowadays. Being half a world away and from an entirely different culture means the shows aren’t as susceptible to the whims of PC as shows are here.

As for me, I lost my job two weeks ago. I wasn’t hitting their metrics. I’m working on getting unemployment for now–I’ve qualified for the full 26 weeks but haven’t received a final determination yet. With all the cases the state is processing I’m sure that’s the reason for the delay. At least, for the time being, you don’t have to make any attempts to seek jobs, thanks to COVID-19. I’ll also get the extra $600 a week through the end of July. I’m going to bank a portion of that for the future.

I’ve been catching up on reading and watching the aforementioned anime series with all the extra time I find myself enjoying. I’m also getting back into photography, having bought a used mirrorless digital camera last December. If I had a way to do so, I’d post some of my photos here.

Oh, as for McDonald’s delivering–they’ve been using Uber Eats for about the last two years for deliveries. I think they may have been one of Uber’s first big customers. I’ve delivered a fair amount of meals for them. The cost, however, is crazy. I can see some reasons for using delivery–I’ve become semi-addicted to Jersey Mike’s when they had free delivery during the beginning of the shutdown–but generally, I’d rather drive through than get delivery for something like burgers.

Don’t EVEN get me started. Now they’ve gone after “The First 48.” Ya know, if something offends you, DON’T EFFING WATCH IT!!!! I don’t complain about the BS on TV that offends me. I just DON’T EFFING WATCH IT!!! Anyway…

So sorry to hear about the job. 😦 At least OESC is sort of getting caught up with the backlog. I hope they get you processed soon! And things are slowly reopening so there will be opportunities–hopefully.

The McDonald’s deal just makes me giggle. McDelivery. 🙄 And yay for getting back into photography. There are days when I think I’d like to pull out the old camera and then I remember that the camera case is buried in the back of a storage closet and there’s a good book calling my name and…well, I’m lazy. 😆 Good on you, though!

Glad to hear from you! Hang in there.
