Monday Stretch

Another Monday and July is almost half over. I vote we fire 2020 and start 2021 now! I really don’t have much to say. I have coffee therefore I am. Or something like that. The world is still crazy. Cops are still dying and stupid people are doing stupid things. What else is new, right? It’s all so wrong I just want to run away.

So. Books. They’ve always been the place I go to hide. In the middle of a favorite shifter series marathon listen. Some of the characters are totally wacky and they make me laugh. I’d like to have them for friends. And true love wins, the good guys wear white hats and the bad guys get theirs in the end. I wish real life was so simplistic.

LG and I had a discussion this afternoon about what’s on TV. Or not on TV. He mentioned there’s a new Netflix series he’s going to check out, sort of The Highlander meets the Avengers or something. Immortal crime fighters. It could be fun. Don’t ask me any more than that. I have no clue as I’ve seen no teasers for it. I’ve given up on the “Big 3” networks. I don’t watch TV to have someone’s political agenda shoved down my throat under the pretext of entertainment. I feel the same way about my books and as a result, I’ve stopped reading some fave authors. Ah well.

Speaking of, I so desperately want to stop walking on egg shells and be policitally incorrect. I have questions, people! Serious questions but I’d be branded some thing or another that ends and an ist. Hypocrisy just chaps my ass like doing a trail ride in wet jeans and a leather saddle. Moving on…

I’m pretty much done with pro sports for the same reason I’m done with TV.

I definitely need more coffee. And maybe a hammock, except it’s too dang hot outside. We did get rain this weekend. Quite a bit of it, actually. And storms. No hail but that wind? Whoooeeee, baby! And lightning! We got lucky. Didn’t lose power and only lost one branch that was mostly dead anyway. I would not be a happy camper with no AC given the temps. Hats off to the OG&E line crews! Those people are amazingly dedicated.

And that, my fine friends, pretty much sums up my weekend. I was down in my back most of Saturday, and much of Sunday. It’s better today but still the occasional twinge and a limp. Have I mentioned it sucks to be old? 🙄 But I have entertaining books to listen too, a furry doggo who snuggles as long as I pet him, and cat who keeps trying to make love to my feet. Do NOT ask! Dang critter won’t let me pet him but he cuddles up to my foot and…well. It ain’t pretty but it makes me laugh and we ALL need more of that these days.

How was your weekend and anything make you laugh or bring a smile to your face lately? Share the goodness, people! And yes, that IS an order. 😉 I’m off for more coffee. Just as soon as I crawl out from under the bed….

  1. :hugs: I totally get you with the fear of saying anything to anyone these days. For me, it’s more about trying to avoid conflict than being labeled anything. Go ahead and call me a racist – it’s as true as calling me a banana and just as silly. The idea that I’m automatically a racist or anything else because of my skin color is the definition of racism. Why other people can’t see that astounds me. Derp.

Anyhooways… Hubs and I have begun listening to pretty classical music before we go to bed at night. Just like ten minutes worth, but it seems to be helping with the whole ‘shut the hell up, brain, I’m trying to sleep’ thing. The past few nights, it’s been Rachmaninoff’s 2nd symphony – first and third movements. (Two and four are too peppy for pre-bed.) I really need to go through the classical and set up a folder of calming stuff.

The fawns are here. Not every day, but it’s a joy to see them when their moms bring them into the yard. =o)

Hang in there, hon. And if you ever need to vent, you know where I’m at. :HUGS:

That offer goes both ways, don’cha know! And FAWNS! YAYAYAYAY!

And yeah, we’re totally on the same page. Heck, I even enjoy Rachmaninoff! 😆 Good choice and who knows, classical music is supposed to help stir creativity! Let me know if that works. 😉

Here’s to a day filled with coffee, cool critters, and creativity. 🥰

Got something to say?
