What a week. Today’s coffee meme is far too apropos. That’s all I’m going to say. I just want a quiet life. Writing books. SELLING books. Nobody bothering me, me not bothering nobody. We’ll see if it happens. Moving on…
The weekend was pretty good. Saturday morning was pancake breakfast at the American Legion Post with the kids. Yummy food and good company. That was followed by siren test and yummy-tummy lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, again with the kids. Stormy is 4’2″ now. **FLAIL** He’s only 6! Jake, of course, went with us. He met some new friends and loves being with his people. He’s such a good boy. Sunday was…Sunday. Loki was waiting for me when I swung my feet out of bed. We had five minutes of toe biting before I could hit the bathroom Fun times. 🙄 All the ferals are present and accounted for. Smudge is getting a little more independent which is good. Also, the mooch-cat from down the block is hanging around again. He likes pets so I pet him, which freaks out the ferals. I hope that shows them I won’t hurt them if I pet and they might actually like it.
Writing. I’ve done quite a bit! I hit over 20K on FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE yesterday. I don’t have an exact number because this was written yesterday and at the time, I was just over 20K by some hundreds but I wasn’t done for the day. I’m still hitting over 2K a day so I’m on track to type The End with time to edit and proof before deadline. I’m also kickin’ it for NaNoWriMo. That’s all yay.
I hit a snag in my reading/listening. I finished GOLDEN IN DEATH (In Death #50) and an audio book popped up on my hold list from the library. It was a SciFi romance by a very popular author and the premise sounded intriguing. Yeah…not so much. Anyway, it sort of bummed me out so I wasn’t sure I was ready to dive into SHADOWS IN DEATH, which is the newest In Death release and one I haven’t read/listened to yet. I wanted to be in the right “reader’s headspace” to enjoy it. I know, I’m weird.
So, good news on the writing front, eh on the reading. I’ve been avoiding TV for…reasons. Well, except for “Maine Cabin Masters.” Some shows on HGTV. “What on Earth” from the Science Channel. “Paranormal Caught on Camera,” though I’ve seen most of those episodes. I’m boycotting the news, even local, and timing it to catch the weather because this is the time of year when the weather can change on a dime. What does that even mean, anyway?
Sports. Both my college teams pulled it off this weekend–one by a squeaker, the other by big leaps but hey! My OSU Cowboys pulled it off! And the Sooners are back to overpowering weaker teams. I didn’t watch. I was actually plotting with another author in the miniseries and writing.
That’s pretty much my life at the moment. Limbs are still everywhere. Hopefully, the crew will come this week and get the yard cleared out. This whole deal of LG having to move his truck so I can get Drover out of the garage is a PITA, and I don’t mean the Greek bread.
Life is what it is. We all need to figure out what is best for us and our families and make the plans that need to be made. I plan to hide in my worlds for awhile. I can control what happens there and I can guarantee that the bad guys will get theirs. Hope y’all are making the best of things. I’m curious, how are you coping?
Like I told Hubs, I have an ember of hope over there in the corner. Otherwise, I’m forging ahead with life as I know it until and unless they make it impossible to forge ahead. Like you said, not bothering nobody and hoping nobody bothers me.
Gah, Storm is 4’2? Tall boy. Yay for lots of words! Go, you! Fingers crossed they get to your limbs today. Yay for your teams! LOL about Loki and Aww, Jake. Hang in there. :hugs:
I started to work on SCIU #4 last night. A new beginning should get the ball rolling. I think. I hope. The sale for A Model Curse started today. I can’t brain right now, though, so not a lot of marketing going on when I ought to be marketing. I need more coffee than there is coffee in existence.
Lordy, ain’t that the truth! I’m on my 4th cup? I’ve lost track. Sadly, it just makes it so I have to get up and “take a walk” more often. We’re just keeping our heads down but I’d say the deck is stacked because that’s what cheaters do. I’m gonna do a list of predictions and tuck it away, see how many come true. Yay for SCIU #4! New beginnings are awesome. Also, Jeni and her books will be on Tuesday Treats & Titles tomorrow. I’m off to search for just the right recipe, though I have one in mind–sangria grapes. 🤣
