Monday has rolled around again. Yesterday was Mother’s Day. That can be good or bad, depending. My mother passed years ago, and my mother-in-law years before that. That sort of makes me the matriarch of the family. Which is weird because I’m not much of that. My sister-in-law’s (the cool one on LG’s side) mom is still with us and she’s a hoot. We gatthered at the BiL/SiL’s yesterday for burgers and dogs and no stress/no drama. That meant only select members of the family attended but hey, it was good food, good company, and the drama llamas stayed home.
The only real news I have to report is that later today I’ll be doing a cover reveal on my FB author’s page. And speaking of writing, last week was a good one! Lots of words, lots of action, lots of the story moving toward the climax and The End. With luck–and if I figure out what to do with the villain when he gets caught–I’ll be ready for first edits later this week. Once that is done, it’ll go to betas and my editor. I’ll continued to tweak while waiting on their verdicts, plus getting it set up to format. I’m still thinking close to 85K words, which is about 1/3 more than I normally write. Anyway, fingers crossed.
In sports, my OSU Cowgirls defeated the #1 OU Sooners in the first game of their 3-game series. Sadly, OU cam back and won the next two games but the Cowgirls played them close. I was really hoping they’d win at least 2 of the 3 games, which would have handed them the Big 12 Championship. Ah, well. They’re still likely to get a regional and I’m really hoping to see them in the Women’s College World Series. In other sports news, the Cardinals are on a small streak. They’re leading the NL Central and swept the Rockies over the weekend. Up next is the Brewers on Tuesday.
Don’t have much to say about TV other than baseball! And softball! I keep falling asleep during other TV at night, and I usually don’t turn it on until dinner time and then after KP duty and time-for-bed time. Oh, on the family front, Stormy came over Saturday afternoon, spent the night, and went home after MD’s lunch at the in-laws. His new favorite streaming show is some Lego Ninja cartoon thing. I didn’t have to watch near as much as LG but at dinner, I said time for something different so we watched Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was corny, had great cameos, and I cried at the end while laughing just a little.
Reading was slow too, mainly because new words on the WIP! And, partly because I’m in a weird headspace funk. I finally settled in with Katee Robert’s O’Malley family series. Set in Boston, it revolves around 3 Irish mob families, plus a Russian interloper from New York City. (New York City!?!?! It’s made in…. Okay, squirrel and Pace Picanti has probably scarred me for life. 🤣 ) Anyway, I’m about finished with the second book and I’ll head into the 3rd when I’m done. Apparently, the last time I read them was like 2017-18. She’s an excellent writer when it comes to emotional arcs and some serious angst (as opposed to the teen-aged stuff that’s mostly just silly.).
So, that’s my world currently. How are things in your neck of the woods?
I’m so glad you had a nice Mother’s Day. Yay for cover reveals and writing! Sorry your Cowgirls didn’t sweep, but yay for the Cards sweeping the Rockies. We watched the Springfield Cardinals game for a bit yesterday. There are a couple players that look good for the future of the SL Cards. Yay for Stormy time! And yay for finding something good to read.
Things here are here. It was a rainy cold MD, which suited my mood. Except I really needed a walk or fishing and neither one was possible with the rain and the cold and the bits of thunder. I did take some awesome bird pictures yesterday. And thinking about that gives me a post for today. Which I should probably go do. Later tater.
Glad I could help out! And we have your cold day today with colder and rain tomorrow. Mother Nature needs an intervention! 🤣 Sorry you couldn’t walk or fish but yay for bird pics. I’ll hope on over there to lookie-see. And yay for baseball!
Silver, did you know that the tag line on Pace commercials used to be “”New Jersey?” I’m not sure when the commercials changed, but they eventually had to change from New Jersey to New York City because the Campbell Soup Company bought Pace–and Campbell Soup is based, as it has been since its founding in 1869, in…New Jersey. (They use “New York City” in stead of just “New York” as it matches the three syllables of “New Jersey.”)
Grrr… I menat to say “…bought Pace in 1995…”
Hey you! How the heck are you? Glad to hear from you. And no, I don’t remember the Pace commercials mentioning New Jersey but that totally makes sense. I still laugh thinking about all those various cowboy sitting around, blown away by the whole New York City thing. 🤣🤣🤣
Hope things are going good for you. Take care!!! ❤
