Memorial Day Monday

A three-day holiday weekend! Most schools are out for the year! It’s the beginning of summer! Yippee! Everyone is excited and ready to hit the lake or go camping or just BBQ in the backyard. That’s awesome. But do me a favor and take just a moment to stop and reflect on why you have a holiday to celebrate, can enjoy summer fun, go to the lake, canping, or just stay home. Men and woman fought and died to make it possible for the rest of us here in the US to enjoy our life, liberty, and pursue our happiness. There’s a reason it’s called Memorial Day. A quiet thank you to the Universe to acknowledge their sacrifice and the service of those who followed and continue to serve and protect us would be very cool.

In other news, I pretty much kept it to myself because I’m always a little embarrassed when people express sympathy. I know. I’m weird but there ya go. Boone finally crossed the Rainbow Bridge last week. He was 17, which is way older than we ever anticipated. Giant breeds normally don’t grow that old. We’d thought he’d go at any moment for the last two years–in the winter because it was so cold or the summer because it was so hot or spring or fall just becaue he liked those seasons. But he didn’t he was a stubborn cuss. He went in his sleep, knowing he was very much loved and now he’s under the Carolina linden tree where he liked to dig and lay in the shady “wallow” on warm days.

So that’s the sad part. Then there’s softball! OMG! My OSU Cowgirls swept Oregon in two games and are headed to OKC for the Women’s College World Series this week. OU, which has been a juggernaut all year, had a major scare from Clemson. They came back and tied in the 7th, and then finally won in 10 innings. Clemson should hold their heads high! There’s not many teams that have managed that against OU this year. Thank you ESPN for carrying all the games. I’m too old and too broke to watch the games in person but this time of year soothes the sports fan in my soul.

Speaking of sports, the Kids had a fun weekend with Stormy. Saturday, they all attending “Hamilton.” I had to laugh when Only was first looking to get tickets. She planed on her and Baseball Boy going and Stormy pitched a fit because he wanted to go too. I remember when he and his mom constantly listened to the soundtrack and evidently, he still knows the words to all the songs. Then yesterday, they went to the Savannah Bananas baseball game against the Party Guys. If you don’t know about the Savannah Bananas, Google them Only kept sendng video clips and yes, I was a little jealous! Fun times and great family memories.

I finished off my marathon of the Graphic Audio versions of Ilona Andrews’s Innkeeper Chronicles series, but for the newest release, which isn’t available yet. It was fun but I highly recommend *reading* the books first because the adaptation is a bit shorter with less descriptive detail–more like a readio play. Still enjoyable. I’m currently listening to HIS TO DEFEND by Rhenna Morgan. She’s new-to-me and it’s Russian Mafia in New Orleans with a single mom. At the time of this typing, I’m about 1/3 of the way through and so far, so good. If it continues to entertain, there are two more books so yay!

Not much else going on in my life. Only a snidge of writing done last week because…reasons. Wrong head space for anything very worthwhile. Once again, I plan to knuckle down, get back on the damn horse and ride it hard. I have no excuse other than I’ve gotten lazy and have a terminal case of “I don’t wannas!” Considering I’ve sold 6 whole books this month on Amazon, I either need to spew words or go hungry. On that note, I’m going to put us all out of our misery, go get another cup of coffee and get my arse to Wallyworld for mininum groceries. Then it’s BICHOK time! That’s my story… What’s yours?

I made it to Vegas yesterday, long trip multiple airports, but arrived safely. I crashed early ( Im such a party animal 😂)
Waiting for my coffee shop downstairs to open to get a large coffee and pastry. Then off to do whatever…
Sorry about Boone, he was loved by many of us who never got to pet him ❤️.

Have fun, wild thing! And I thought of you when I downloaded Morgan’s book. If you haven’t ready her NOLA Knights series, you’d probably like it. Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the heck out of life! ❤

And Boone was a good boy. Mostly mellow but killer of squeaker toys and chaser of possums and coons. 😉

  2. Once again, I am so sorry for your loss. Like Kira, he held on way longer than we thought, but it was still too soon. :hugs: Sounds like everything else is going pretty well over there, except for the writing, of course, but that’ll come. :hugs:

I went to Wallyworld yesterday. It wasn’t too much more of a zoo than usual. More vacationers than usual, wandering around looking for what they need in the foreign land of an ‘away from home’ Walmart. Hubs is visiting his mom for her 90th birthday, so it’s just me and the boys for a few days. He’s enjoying his time there. I’ll go visit my mom later in the summer. I have a whole list of things I could do today – mowing, gardening, cleaning – we’ll see if any of it gets done. LOL

    Have a great day, Silver.

I foresee TV and kitten time and maybe some reading. Which sounds pretty good to me. Also a nap. Glad Hubs is enjoying his trip. It’s hard sometimes, when parents are old (like me! 🙋🏼‍♀️ – lol ) and you live far away. Glad you’ll get to see your mom later. Enjoy your day!
