No recipe today and no book. Instead, I’m tossing it to y’all. What’s your favorite dessert, side, or main dish to serve to faimily and friends on the 4th of July or any other summer holiday. Of course, down in the southern hemisphere, it’s winter so any readers down there could share their favorite comfy cold-weather foods. Next, pair a book you enjoy with that dish. As much as I hate paying for the electricity, I have had the windows shut and the air conditioners on at night until the big explosions are over. NY allowing the legal sale of fireworks was one of the worst decisions. Of course, some of those fireworks have been actual gunshots lately, down the hill from us. Everything echos up so we hear them.
I usually bring a potato salad and dessert. Depends on my mood what I bring when there is a party to go to.

Fireworks are illegal here. You can’t buy, own, or shoot within city limits of the majority of cities in the metro, including OKC. One city DOES allow them but do the idiots make the five minute drive? Nope. And listening to them “justify” their breaking the law just makes me 🤬! And yeah, LG and I have told several of them off. Our new nextdoor neighbor is a disabled combat vet. It’s been REALLY tough on him. And poor Jake. Anyway, hopefully it’s over until New Years. Grrr. Yummers on sweet and potato salad!
