Actually, it’s only warm outside. Which is AMAZING! The jet stream finally pushed the heat dome back to the west, an ya’ll out that way? I’m sorry. (Not sorry. 😉 ) It’s almost pleasant as I head out to hit Wallyworld this morning. And the continued hit of autumn in the air just makes me antsy. School is starting back up, along with college football. I’m ready for baked fruit pies and hot bread and dinners like spaghetti or shepherd’s pie.
In other news, Life has a way of changing the best laid plans. No siren test or family lunch for First Saturday. The Kids had to make an emergency trip up the turnpike for a family emergency and then a small thunderstorm parked itself over the siren test sites so it was cancelled. It also set me off of editor mode. It happens. LG and I quietly celebrated our 40th anniversary. I had to look up what anniversary that is–Ruby, for those who didn’t know. And no, he didn’t get me a ruby. LOL
So, this week, I need to get back on track. I hope to have a cover to hint at at some point, along with some serious editing progress. Last week, I ended up rewriting two of the chapters. It happens. In better news, most of the book–so far–apears to be better than I originally thought. A writer’s brain and “ego” is an ugly place sometimes. Okay, who am I kidding?!?! 🤣 It’s always a scary place and sometimes uglier than others.
Jake is feeling better. He’s back to barking when he makes his perimeter patrols in the morning and at night. Pete is still the Demon Prince of Weird and Crazy Dreams. Usually–pre-Pete, I dreamed lucidly but they were more like a movie and told a story that I might or might not be a character in and yes, I often dreamed of scenes in current WIPs. And I knew it was a dream. Since Pete started sleeping inside on my bed, my dreams are lucid but in an immediate/Real Life like I’m right there living the scene and it’s like…real. Like this is Not a Dream. This is Not a Drill. This is an Actual Thing! See? Weird and crazy.
On that note, I need to head out. Time to get started on my day. What did y’all do this weekend? And what do you need to do this morning?
*Who else is a fan of Neil Diamond? 🙋🏼♀️

I adore Neil Diamond!!
My class reunion was a blast! we have a big one every 5 years and smaller ones the other years, so people flew in from all over the US. I got to reconnect with old friends I haven’t talked to at all and ones I talk to buy haven’t seen. Found out at least 2 of them live right by me!!
One of my friends since 1st grade did all the driving this weekend so I could drink. I had to coerce him to come because he isn’t in a good place, but he ended up having a great time too. I did drink on Saturday night, and danced too. I still hurt.
I was able to shed the loss and loneliness I have had hanging over me for the last 3 years. Not that I don’t still miss Jim, but now I feel like I can move forward. It was what I needed and didn’t know it. This was the first event since he passed that I did something that wasn’t connected to him and our lives.
🤗 Massive hugs! I know Jim’s looking down, smiling, and saying in a gruff voice, “Good!” Because it is good. You’ll always miss him but there’s still a lot of life to be lived and enjoyed. He, nor anyone else, would never begrudge you that. Yay on having a great wseekend and for also giving your close friend a kick in the pants to help him begin the climb up out of the doldrums too!
And yeah, Neil’s songs were pretty much the soundtrack of my teenage years. LOL
My mom was as big of a Neil fan as they come. Once my step father died, she turned the formal dining room into a memorabilia room, I named The Diamond Salon, she even had a street sign made with it, sadly she paased away before we could hang it.
She had a subway poster, and lots of pictures, frogs( I am I said was her song)etc…
The cover of Hot August Nights was always a favorite.
“I am I said, to no one there….”
Yeah, pretty much the soundtrack of my life for quite awhile. And yes, I’ve been lucky enough to see him in concert a couple of times. The dude’s voice is all kinds of awesome. (Kind of like Sam Elliott’s.) I bet the dining room was perfect and your mom enjoyed it so much, even if the street sign didn’t get hung. She knew it was there and enjoyed it. Big hugs 🤗. And put on a copy of Hot August Nights and sing along! I’ll be up here singing along with you. 😉
