Thursday Thoughts…Uhm…

Yes. I’m late. And no, it isn’t because I forgot. Though I forget a lot of things. I mean, I do have ADWB (Attention Deficit Writer’s Brain–ooh look, a squirrel!) but that’s not what happened. A squirrel I mean.

Okay, time to ‘fess up. I was hijacked. By two bags of groceries and a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet.

Yesterday was grocery run day. LG normally helps with off-loading but he was ferrying a friend who doesn’t drive to a doctor’s appointment. I’d off-loaded the heavy stuff and was down to one medium-heavy refrigerator bag and one pantry bag that was light. Easy peasy, right? Not if you’re me. Nope. I hooked a toe of my fuzzy mukaluk-style boots in the edge of the mat going in the door. I went down. I hit my left knee–which seems to take all my falls(!) along with a glancing blow of my right, my left arm was jammed and then I face planted. I have a bruised cheek bone, a lump above my eyebrow, a sore nose (I was wearing my glasses) and a stiff neck. It took a while to get off the concrete. Jake helped (as he’s trained to do), along with the metal bakers rack that holds heavy stuff right by the door.

After resting, I got the groceries put up. I tried to work but the headache was having none of it so I went to bed. I considered staying there today, and did manage to sleep/doze until 7 a.m., but here I am. We’re supposed to have snow today. We’ll see.

On that note, I’m going to deal with email, try to maybe edit a chapter or two but if the left arm and shoulder continue to twinge and my glasses keep hurting my nose, I may just go back to bed and put the heating pad on it. That was my stupidity for the week. What dumb thing have you done lately? I don’t want to be alone in my “misery.” 🙄

Yikes! Spare parts are expensive at our age, not to mention it hurts a whole lot more to fall than it did way back when. Rest up and take good care of yourself!

We’ve had quite a bit of snow down here in Durant this morning. It’s beautiful to look at from inside the house, but I have no desire to be out in it.

By the way, I’ve enjoyed all your articles this week. They all popped up today, but when I clicked to close the articles, they did the magic Facebook thing and disappeared before I could comment or click the button. Thus, I’m commenting here like I should have on the other posts, I presume.

I should be weaving probably, but since it’s a snow day, I think I’ll read. 🙂

Snow days are perfect for reading! Weaving will wait. 😉 FB never plays nice with me which is why I normally just post on my page and not my profile and I can never find the folks I’m interested in reading their stuff. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Ah well. And thanks for enjoying my meanderings. It’s good to know that I entertain. 🥰

Damn! I didn’t want to hit the LIKE button. There is no liking you getting hurt. I hope the soreness goes away and the bruising/swelling isn’t too bad.

I haven’t had any falls but I do tip into the wall often. It’s usually because I’m moving too fast and my slipper flops.

C was supposed to take hubs to TN to see Harrison tomorrow for the weekend, but that storm is going to hit TN too. Harrison’s parents told C not to come. Hubs is all ticked off about it. He doesn’t understand TN has no winter road equipment and thinks C should go anyway. Oh well.

You take it easy and maybe you can enjoy the snow fall.

You can like it. It also means that you sympathize. 😉 I’m a klutz sometimes. It happens.

I’m sorry you won’t get a weekend break. The drivers in Tennessee AND Kentucky are putzes when it comes to winter driving. The same for the folks here. I learned to drive in Colorado and on ice here (we often get more ice than snow) and the best advice is to just stay home so good on C. I’m sure Hubs would get it under different circumstances and hopefully the trip can be rescheduled for fairer weather.

      Hang in there!
