Memorial Day is coming up soon, as is the 4th of July. If you’re looking for a simple dessert that’s sure to appeal to everyone, this just might be it. It clears your oven and stove for other things and it doesn’t heat up the kitchen. This is important as summer arrives.

Tips

2 – If you are serving this to a group you can easily double this recipe but make sure to watch the cooking time.
If y’all have read MOON SHOT or MOONSTRUCK: RETRIBUTION, then you’ll recognize Granny Mae. She’s the midwife/town elder and most likely, the final arbiter of all things going on in Blaidd’s Gap, West Virginia. She’s also a practical cook.
“Ha! Practical cook. I like that there description, I do. I’m too old t’be dilly-dallyin’ around with stuff. Not t’mention I’m busy. Since all them new Wolves moved t’town with their mates and their pups, they’ve got me jumpin’ fer sure. All that bein’ said, I am mighty proud that you’d be wantin’ t’share one o’my go-to recipes. It’s a sure fire people-pleaser. I hope y’all sure ‘nuf enjoy it.”
And there you have it from Granny Mae’s lips. I’m torn between my toppings. I suppose I could be bold and have both ice cream and whipped cream. Yummers! So, y’all give it a try and you can read MOONSTRUCK: RETRIBUTION while you’re waiting for it to cook. Yeah? *nods* Absolutely! Enjoy! Both the book and the cake. This sounds really good…something my family would love. !
Lemon and blueberry are such great flavors together!
Yesss!
Question. If I were to oven-bake it, what temperature and bake time would you recommend?
Uhm…wow. Let me do a little research. Looks like you can bake it in a preheated 350 oven for somewhere between 40 and 55 minutes–the cake needs to turn golden brown on top. Good luck if you try it that way! We get hot enough here I try not to use my big ovens in the summer. LOL
Don’t want to sound braggy, but I have free gas from a well on the farm. Toasters, microwaves and coffee pots are about all the electric kitchen cooking appliances I use much. Maybe an occasional waffle!
Super easy and yummy. Instead of spray, I have liners for the crock pot. Yes, I am that lazy 😉.
Have a good day!
I thought about liners and I guess for a dump cake it wouldn’t matter because it’s not like you’re going to “turn it out” and ice it then slice it to serve. 🤣
Wow I didn’t know you could buy crock pot liners!
Walmart, in the with the plastic wrap and aluminum foil.
Yup! I use them when I do pot roast and hot cheese dip and any other really messy thing. I’m a derp for not thinking of using the darn things for dump cakes!
Thanks for the info! I use parchment paper a lot and buy the folded sheets instead of the roll.
Smart!
