Talk about hitting the nail on the head. The Universe just dropped into my inbox with a message explaining exactly what it is like to write a book. Or a short story. I have an acquaintance in π writing community and he writes short stories. He also complains a lot that people don’t give short stories enough credit. You’re welcome, Ian. Anyway, today’s post pretty much wrote itself because this is pretty much explains what a fiction does day to day.
What if, Silver, EVERYONE in your life was really just an actor or actress secretly there just so that YOU might live, love, and learn?

There it is in a nutshell. Easy peasy. Only it’s not really. Coming up with fresh twists on old stories with interesting characters and string together words in ways that convey the story without being stale is a challenge. Trust me on this! Frankly, I’ve stopped reading some big-name writers because they basically wrote the same stories over and over, simply changing the names and locations. In some cases, they cut-and-pasted scenes both within the same book and between books. Don’t be that writer! It irritates the snot out your readers. Trust me. I’m both a writer and a reader. Anyway, this is my TED talk for the day. I hope you enjoyed it.

So true! And you can only say something so many different ways. I try but don’t always succeed.

I’ve found that many authors do write the same story over again as they write more books. It’s really bad when the story repeats w/in a series.
So, the Universe poses a fun Q. I think I might be afraid of what I may have written for those around me π€£ππ€£. It’s a good thing I can’t write.

It gets tempting to “cut and paste” but the majority of us really do try to be original. Granted, there are only so many “stories” to tell, but we can at least try to tell them with new words, characters and settings.
