Thursday Thoughts: Universal Mastery

Writers are like normal people. Hey, we can act normal. Sometimes. We’re not weird all the time. Okay, maybe we are but we get pretty good at acting normal. Anyway, people have their ups and downs, their good days and bad, their ah-has and nopes. This is especially true of writers. For the past two years, I’ve been doing lots of all of that. Well, the latters of those this and thats. Or is it the former. I always get confused on that one and have to look it up. BRB. I was right the first time. Anyway. Here’s what the Universe divulged today:

If one hangs out in time and space long enough, Silver, they’ll inevitably learn it’s through the twin gateways of persistence and patience that masters become masters.

Of all things,
The Universe

P.S. I mean, they also become masters of all things, Silver.

Substitute “Imagination” for “time and space” and read the message again. Now, sustitute “Writers” for “masters.” And read it a third time. “If one hangs out in the imagination long enough, they’ll inevitably learn it’s through the twin gateways of persistence and patience writers become writers.” Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? If we want to master our craft, we have to remain both persistent and patient. And boy, did the the Big U hit that PS nail on the head. As a writer–especially–as a self-published author, we have to become masnter of all things. Creating. Editing. Proofreading. Formatting. Marketing. It’s not easy but it is sooo worth the time and effort.

Question/Statement: I can write until the cows come home if I am writing about something real. but draw a blank when it comes to writing fiction. Is it just that my imagination is not developed, or are there two distinct kinds of people/writers?

      Well, that’s a can of worms! Here’s what I think…

My mother read a lot of fiction, and enjoyed it. Lots of “best sellers” from the library–whatever was popular. My dad read SciFi, westerns, mysteries. I lived in my head–always had a story in there full of people I talked to. Freaked Mother out. Dad? He’d let me tell him the stories when we were off doing things together. Mother, a HS business teacher, admitted she had no imagination. Dad, who once wanted to be an architect, “saw” in pictures what I saw in both pictures and words.

In college, I had 2 classes–bio-psychology and psycho-biology. One looked at thoughts/emotions on a biological level. The other looked at bodies from a psychological angle. I learned about left brain vs. right brain, about the spectrum, and about the “deviant psychologies.”

To make a long story a bit longer, yes. I think there are people who can make up stuff out of the crazy weirdness in their heads. There are other people who are very logical and observant. They report what they see and learn from their observations. It doesn’t mean they are any less creative. In fact, many of them are very creative, just in a very straightforward way. The whole left brain vs. right brain dichotomy is very interesting.

Anyway, that’s my opinion. All I know is that my head can be a very scary place to live in sometimes. 😉🤣😵

I’m a stealth weirdo. I look normal until I get right up on ya and drop some sort of weird-bomb. ;o)

Yes, the Universe is wise. And you are wise. All of that. As for me, I suffer from both a lack of patience and a lack of the urge to be persistent. Of course, without persistence, there’s nothing really to be patient about – it all just falls where it falls. Right now, I’m blaming the Summer Doldrums on my lack of gumption. Maybe I’ll pick August and do a NaNo thing to get back on track. We’ll see.

Again the Universe has it nailed. I don’t know how you all do it.

    Have a good evening.

Hope you had a great day! I plan on having an easy evening. We’ll see. I think some of us are jut wired differently. LOL That explanation beats the alternative. 😉
