TGIF! I promised some news. This has been quite a week. Let me back up to Sunday. Well, actually, I need to go back a little further. LG and I have been watching the local rescue pages. I mean, we’ve always kind of done that but it’s been a long time now since Boone crossed the rainbow bridge. Jake has been happy being an only dog, seemingly. But he is getting older and having a younger running buddy might be a good thing. We had no plans to actually adopt. We just window-shopped. The D&CDS has always been good to us, putting the right dog or cat in our path at the right time.
So…Last week, I saw a dog posted on the Neighborhood app. Someone had dumped a Great Pyrenees out at the lake and he ended up on the portch of a young couple that do fostering with a GSD rescue. The gal was posting in all the usual places. No microchip. No one claimed him. They then went knocking on doors. They found an elderly brother and sister (and by that, I mean even older than LG and me) who had started taking care of the dog and had him vetted. He’d already been neutered by they got his shots and had him tested for the usual. But then they had trouble confining him–short fence and he is a wanderer. When he didn’t come home, they figured something had happened. They admitted they couldn’t handle him, huge puppy that he is. So, the couple started looking for fosters and/or shelters.
I showed his picture to LG. We talked about it. I contacted the gal. We talked. He’s 1 1/2 years old. His potty trained. He’s heartwarm negative, has his shots, as mentioned neutered. Got along with their herd of GSDs and their cats. On Sunday, they brought him over to meet Jake. There was no dust-up. Thing was, LG had a procedure (upper GI scope) scheduled for Monday morning and I had to go with him. We didn’t want to leave the pup home alone with the cats until we were sure there’d be no dust-ups there. They agreed to keep him one more day and they’d deliver him back to us on Monday afternoon. Happy anniversay to us. 😂
This is Toby. He is sweet and goofy. He is also nosey. Very curious. He has to smell everything. I haven’t been able to get any “cute” pictures of him but you can get an idea from the two I’m posting. Pete is not happy but he’s only hissed at Toby once. Toby backed off. I’ve only seen Loki three times since Toby’s arrival. He’ll eventually come out and make friends. Jake has warned Toby off from being too curious about Loki. Click on the side arrows to see his other picture.
According to the vet, Toby is likely 1/2 Pyre and 1/2 Anatolian Shepherd. He’s already as tall as Jake but not as heavy. Jake is 130, Toby is only 90 at the moment. He’ll put on a little weight as he matures. I can testify that he is ALL muscle! Training him is going to be fun. 👀 He’s smart but stubborn. He is also a night owl. Any little noise outside and he’s on alert. BarkBarkBarketyBark. Last night between 11 pm and 6 am, I went out with him twice and LG went out three times. Hopefully, he’ll learn. If not, I see many daytime naps in my future.
In other news, the tests found nothing wrong–which is good, sort of–but that means we still don’t know what is causing his symptoms.
That’s all the free. What’s your week been like? Have a great weekend!

Ooo, Yay! What a cutie-patootie! I want to snuggle him up. Love the duck. The Boyz have a couple of the same style – just way smaller. Sorry to hear they can’t figure out what’s up with LG. Yay for it not being whatever they tested for, but still… it can be a pain in the buns not knowing. :hugs: I hope Toby settles in and Loki chills out and you have a lot of fun times with the big lug.
Nothing going on over here. I don’t want to talk about writing because I’m letting you (and myself) down over here. I need to give myself a stern talking to. The cats are cats and Hubs is fine. All’s well. Have a great weekend!
Hey, I get the writing stuff. I have written every day but Monday. Not many words–average under 1K a day but progress. I get the weird headspace. Now that I’ve said that, I’ll just add, “STEP AWAY FROM THE ROKU!!!!” 🤣🤣🤣
Toby inherited the duck from Boone. Boone liked squeaky toys. Jake? Nope. Couldn’t care less. Toby now also has a green gator and an orange “thing.” LG called it a fox. It sort of has a fox face, but sectioned like a centipede and has no legs. 🙄
Have a great weekend! Stay out of the heat.
Welcome to your new home, Toby! It’s going to be an adventure for EVERYONE for sure!!
Adventure in Crazy for sure. His bark is so sharp, it can be heard for blocks! Inside the house, not even burying my head under the pillows help. He currently is snoozing on the office dog bed. Wish I was doing the same. 🥱
LOL I’m finally awake. Went out and watered one flower bed that was struggling. Scrambled a couple of eggs🥚🥚 and had them with …..of course….. another cup of coffee!☕
Sounds like your morning nap went well. 😉 And of course, another cup of coffee is always a necessity!
Now it’s almost 5 pm and i am trying desperately to avoid taking an evening nap. lol
Naps are like that, yeah they are. 😆
😆😆😆
I love him! Thank you for bringing him into your home. Eventually they should all get along🤞🏻.
My week has been a week. I got all the windows and sliders (21) on the first floor cleaned. Too busy in the mornings, when it’s cool, to tackle the second and third floors but they should go faster than the first floor.
It’s Spunk’s 12th birthday today. In honor of him, we are having grilled tuna sandwiches for dinner so that he gets his favorite treat – human tuna from the can 😻.
Have a great weekend!
Awww. Happy Birthday, Spunk! 🥳🎂😻🐟
Good on you for getting all the windows done! Wow! Your house must be big and I’m guessing you have lots of light coming in! That’s cool but wow, time-consuming to keep clean. We love the doofus too but we were up 3 times between us last night so I’m thinking nap and a late dinner at this point. Otherwise, I might fall asleep DURING dinner. 😆 Have a great weekend!
congratulations !!!!!!
The kitty angels gifted me with 2 new kittens ….1 about 6 weeks ago when the Sooner Tom Cat Pete brought home orange kitten….still a little wild but I can step onto the porch with Pete and him while they eat….crazy thing is Pete has been coming and going for like 5 6 years and now since January is rubbing on my legs and allowing me to pet….
And the second kitten about 3 weeks ago came from my nieces work found in suspension system of land rover…J R just Rover was tiny whose eyes had not changed color yet and trying to nurse the pillow at night while on my shoulder …black fluffy and full personality…my 19 year old Maine coon ,who Rover just LOVES, is not impressed but does allow sleeping besides …the other feline crew is like what did you do!!!!!!
Best thing is dads MD appointments great great labs of 60 year old at 94 with return 6 months.
Healing blessings for your sweetheart…I know I would recommend ginseng patches for gi stuff and kidney.
Blessings

What amazing additions from the Cat Distribution System. CDS seems to be working overtime. 😄 Sweet babies for sure. Orange Pete Cats are Orange. Re-Pete lets me put his bowl down right in front of him most mornings now, instead of walking away and loafing on the sidewalk until I go inside. He’s Re-Pete because we thought he and Pistol Pete aka Petronius the Arbiter (the Not My Cat who is Now My Cat) were one and the same. It wasn’t until we glimpsed them both at the same time that we realized there were two. Anyway…
EXCELLENT news about your dad! That’s wonderful. May he continue to be blessed with good health.
VA has ruled out kidneys, pancreas, intestines, stomach, and esophogus. It might be gall bladder but they won’t authorize that test yet. It also might be a problem with his rib, which requires a referral to Ortho, which must come from his primary care. People who want universal health care should have to deal with VA for even just a month! At least his pain doctor is cool and she keeps figuring out ways to make sure he gets to see her. That’s the only relief he’s getting at the moment.
Hope you had a good weekend. Have a great week!
