Monday Musing

Baby it is cold outside! 🥶🥶🥶 Brrrr. I just want to crawl back under the covers.

Mother Nature can’t make up her mind. Last week, it was late summer/early fall. This week? Winter is back in the driver’s seat. Sadly, it’s a dry cold. I mean cold rain or snow is not awesome, it is moisture and we are in drought mode around here. I’d take precipitation in any form. Besides, I have 4WD, good tires, and I’ve driven on the stuff since I first learned to drive. High today is supposed to be 2 degrees above freezing. *shiver*

Last week was a week. Real Life decided to give me a Gibbs Slap™️. Between all the peopling, goodbyes and then the truck fire (we’re still waiting on the adjuster’s report about whether insurance will fix LG’s truck or total it so that we have go shopping), I feel like not a whole lot got done. In other words, things might be boring. Except they weren’t because…well, all the above.

Saturday meant indoor soccer. Thank goodness for that. I’m not a cold weather fan when it comes to sitting outside swathed in heavy coats, boots, gloves, hats, and blankets to watch kids run up and down a field kicking a ball. Inside just means sitting on uncomfortable bleachers for an hour or so. Stormy had a good game. Match. Whatever its called. The rest the team? Well, let’s just say their goalie got a massive work out. Ah well. There’s always next week.

I did a minimal amount of writing due to all the RL intrusions. ‘Nuff said.

I’m on the last book of my marathon relisten of Suzanne Wright’s Olympus Pride series. It’s full of sly humor, suspense, and down and dirty sexy bits. FYI, the majority of the Pride is made up of Pallas cat shifters, among other kinds. Next up is a marathon of the Graphic Audio full-cast adaptation of Ilona Andrews’s Hidden Legacy series. The third book drops tomorrow. Magic and mayhem in Houston. Fun times! And yes, I truly love the dramatic adaptations from GA.

With winter rearing it’s head this week, I plan on mostly staying indoors and hopefully, I can get my brain into writing mode so that I spend some serious time BICHOK (Butt In Chair, Hands On Keyboard). I’m fed up with the crap in my head and really need to suck down some serious caffeine and get my ass in gear. So that’s my plan. Barring any unforseen events. Like last week. *sigh* On that note, there’s fresh coffee waiting, rough draft words to be read and expanded upon. Anybody doing anything exciting?

This cold snap sucks rocks. But it is January and at least I’m not in Michigan. Sorry your week was rough. Fingers crossed for good news from the adjuster. Yay for indoor soccer. Yay for good books to listen to. Here’s to a quiet week filled with productivity for the both of us.

Nothing’s happening here. Like you, it’s cold, so I plan on staying inside and doing not much of anything. Except editing. I have editing to do and I’m going to do it. (Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself this morning.) The coffee is hot and plentiful, so I’ve got that going for me. Yay.

Hot coffee on a cold day always helps. The weekend wasn’t bad, compared to last week. That said, today’s start totally sucked. PITA Pup when into hyperdrive at the front door as I was trying to get out to feed the ferals. It got ugly and so was my mood so I just gave up on today. Tomorrow will be better. Except I need to get out and people a little. I need birdseed and I need to see about new shoes. We’ll see what happens.

Hope you got lots of editing done!

  2. I’ve got nothing exciting going on. Just trying to stay warm inside, which is a challenge since our HVAC unit needs a new part and because of that, we get pretty cold during the night. I’m waking up to 64 degrees inside the house. It doesn’t warm up until early afternoon, and that’s only if the sun is out. Apparently, the part we need is on back order with Trane. It’s been over a month since we’ve been seen by a service technician. You would think that Trane, being the giant mega HVAC producer, would have this part in stock. I’m pretty salty about it.

Other than that, I’ll just be in my little room, making jewelry and drinking coffee, tea, anything that’s hot.

Trane, like so many US manufactures sent their stoff “off shore” which makes getting parts a challenge. And dang but it’s cold your way and mine both. I’m sorry! At least it’s easier to get warm than to cool off. More clothes and blankets. We’re lucky. The family that built this house added four gas wall heaters in addition to the central HVAC. No electronics involved so we can stay toasty even if we lose electricipty.

🤞🏼 the part comes in soon and the repair guy can get right on it! Hang in there and try to stay warm. 🤗

I’m sending you a great big hug to get through sucky Monday.

Enjoy a good cup of coffee and just let the keyboard do the talking.

Sure hope the adjuster gets back with you guys soon. I’ve never heard of it taking this long. Usually they come back in a day.

It’s very cold and windy right now. This week is going to be a bear. We should all plan on staying in and warm as much as possible.

    Hope the day gets better🩷.

Bight hugs back. Part of the problem is “home office” and “local adjuster” are on different pages and when they get on the same page, it’s been wrong. Local apologized and we should hear something this week.

Cold and windy here too. Supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow but then a major winter storm coming Friday/Saturday. Yippee. Not!

Coffee helped. As for the keyboard, I spent the afternoon popping off keys and cleaning out the accumulated cat hair and other detritus that collects. Now if the keys would just form words for the story. 🙄

Tomorrow’s another day. We’ll see what it brings…
