Beware the Ides of Monday

I discovered that the Ides of March are not the only Ides. In Roman times, the word “ides” referred to the day in the missle of the month, usually the 14th, 15th., or 16th. That’s your fun fact for the day. Also, tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day. I love St. Patrick’s Day. Yes, I do have Irish ancesters but on Paddy’s Day, everyone is a little bit Irish. Am I right?

So. There was a week and a weekend. I did very little writing though I did so some and there will be new words on Wednesday.

I also peopled. I had an appointment on Wednesday with a new optomitrist. Hopefully my new glasses will be in this week. I can barely wait. See, when I had my cataract surgery, I wasz supposed to get great far vision–something I’ve never had because I’ve been nearsighted my whole life and have worn glasses/contacts since the 3rd grade. Far vision sounded great! Except now I can’t see anything close up, even with bifocals. Oh, if I get a book or label or the computer monitor at just the rest distance, I can read fine. But doing sstuff up close? Nope. Can’t see. And to see what’s on the computer monitor, I have turn into a contortionist. Anyway, the new optomitrist totally gets the whole “I need to see both up really close and at arms length more than I need to see far away.” I’m really hoping the literal pain in my neck/back relief will help my new word production. 🤞🏼

In reading news, I finished off my marathon relisten to the books in the Kate Daniels world. No new ones coming out there anytime soon but they are comfort books. Ilona Adrews does have a new series coming out soom and I’ve reordered it. I also grabbed 2 new Larissa Ione books in der Demonica world. They were on sale and a 3rd one releases soon. These are “2nd Generation” characters so I’m going back and listening to the originals–or at least a few of them–to remind me of who’s who. There are a LOT of characters in that world. If you aren’t familiar and you like really smexy books in the paranormal realm, you might gibe tthe series a try. The 1st book is PLEASURE UNBOUND. The premise is that demons, werewolves, vampires, and angels live among us. There are humans hunting them. Not all demons are evil. The first set of books is centered around Underworld General Hospital.

The weekend was pretty much a wash. I did nada. DST is still kiccking my arse and the dang Cold from Hell™️continues to linger though it is better–just in time for the weather to change from warm to cold again. High of 43 predicted today but promises of the 90s by week’s end. Go home Mother Nature, you’re drunk!

On that note, I absolutely have to hit Wallyworld this morning and I need to get gone before the rest of the world realizes I’m out and about. I go early because there is less peoling to do that way. Anybody do something fun this weekend? Anybody have interesting plans for the week?

Happy Early St. Paddy’s Day. I’m pretty sure I don’t have any Irish in me, but I’ll play along on SPD. Fingers cross the glasses will help with the writing. Bummer about the peopling, though. Yay for fun books! Yeah, the weekend was a wash here, too. Don’t get me started on the cold snap (or DST, for that matter). Good luck with Wallyworld. :hugs:

Nothing fun this weekend. No plans for the week, either. Just here doing my usual Monday morning marketing things and pounding coffee like there’ll be a shortage. It’s too damn dark for this time of day (damn DST… grrr).

:crawls off in search of caffeine:

Our heater went out again lazst night. Thank goodness for the NG wall heaters. Kept the house at 67 overnight, after hitting a low temp of 22. HVAC dude came back today. Had to replace a different motor. It’s working like a dream now! Yay. Didn’t make it to WW. Too dang cold. Tomorrow. *sigh* I’m for vegging for the week.

I always wondered what “Ides” meant, and imagined it was something sinister. Thanks for the clarification.

Happy early St. Patrick’s Day! My plans for the week are to get back to work fir the first time in a month and a half. Why have I been off for so long? Well, there’s a story there.

Last summer, My doctor referred me to a urologist as my PSA was at 7. For a man of my age (73) it should be around 5. The urologist’s nurse told me I needed a MRI. Being a good guy, and having worked for two years as a patient scheduler for a California-based radiology company, I scheduled one immediately. The MRI led to a biopsy and that led to a diagnosis of prostate cancer. I then had a PET/CT to confirm. So far, I’ve had 44 radiation treatments and am over halfway through a 6 month dose of hormone therapy.

Now, a common issue with prostate cancer is swelling of the prostate that causes urinary problems. Those problems worsened to the point I stopped passing urine. I ended up in the ER on the evening of Sunday, February 1st, staying in the hospital until Wednesday the 4th. I’ve been out of work since then, what with multiple doctor and ER visits due to various problems with the catheter and a UTI. I finally feel like I can do at least a half day for a week or two while I get my stamina back.

So, that’s been my life the last six or seven months. At least I’m still upright and mobile.

Oh no!!!!! I’m soooo sorry. But it sounds like you are finally on the mend. The chemo stuff is rough and the hospitalization–especially for that long of a time. Don’t push yourself too hard. At our age, we don’t bounce back as fast as we used to. Take care of yourself, my friend. I’m glad you’re still with us! ❤️

Happy St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow! I’m wearing my themed clothes already 😉. I have a tad Irish in me but not Catholic so my mom always made me wear orange (the protestant color according to her). As an adult I wear green ☺️.

I have read every book of Larissa’s Underworld, including all the little shorts she put out and now the “kids” books. I have Legacy Of Desire on order at the library.

My weekend was nothing thrilling. I’m still having issues with my Spectrum OnDemand. They just keep giving me new boxes and can’t seem to find the real reason for my troubles☹️.

The kids are getting ready for the wedding this Saturday. I hope it warms up a bit.

I went to Wally this morning too. In and out in 10 minutes.

    here’s to a good Monday!

I think I hate you just a little bit. I’ve never in and out of WW in 10 minutes! Yay for the wedding. The weather here is supposed to be in the 90s (YIKES!) so I will huff and puff and try to blow some heat your way! I’m enjoying my relisten. It’s been awhile since I’ve read/listened to her Demonica books. And, I didn’t make it to WW today for…reasons. It’s on my list for Tuesday. Yippee. Not!

Have a good week, no matter what you do! ❤️
