Thursday Thoughts: Universal Doors

Okay, writers. Let’s dog about the big boogieman that sits in the corner just waiting to spring on us. Yes, I am speaking about that dreaded syndrome called Writer’s Block. It is insidious and frustrating. It ranks right up there with it’s deceptive cousin, Imposter’s Syndrome. For those of you who are non-writers, let me briefly explain. A writer’s brain is a very scary place and we get all sorts of ideas, both real and imagined. The thing is, if we were just like…well…normal (whatever that means)…we probably wouldn’t be writers. Today’s message from the Universe is technically for everyone, but it is especially apropos for those of us who are stuck in our WIPs at the moment.

Sometimes when a door is slammed shut, Silver, people forget there are always lots and lots of other doors to knock on.

Curiously,
The Universe

P.S. Knock, knock, Silver! Who’s there? Gopher. Gopher who? Gopher it.

Sometimes, we paint ourselves into a corner. If we’re lucky, there’s a door there. Or a window. If not, then we need to do some demolition work. Or just blow a hole in the wall. Either way. But to the Big U’s point, there’s no reason for us to be stuck. Life is full of detours, forks in the road, and Plan Bs. We just need to be open to the possibilities and, as the U says, just gopher it. I’m off to knock on some doors. How ’bout y’all?

I hope you knock on the ones that make you the happiest with your words today.

Me, I spent the morning with C submitting claims to Allstate. Both houses wee damaged yesterday during a wind/hail storm. The house C is in really got nailed. The siding is full of holes, gutters torn down, and windows broken among other crud. His cars all have massive dents. HIs newest has an aluminum body – it’s not repairable. My house – the stucco and the chimney got it. There is also 1 spot on the roof. Adjusters aren’t showing up for 7 to 10 days depending on the house. MESS!

    Have a good day!

(My doorbell has been out of order for years. Knock loudly. If you hear the cat growl, at least you will know someone heard you.)
