I don’t have much to report. It’s Monday.
Jake is…I don’t know. He seems to get better and then stuff happens. He’s eating a bit more. He’s even taken a few treats and jerky strips. He’ll let us know when he needs to go out but he’ll also sleep so hard he loses a bit of control. He hates taking his pills. He’s lost 30 pounds. He neesd a bath but… Every time I wake up at night and every time I get up from my desk during the day, I go check to make sure he’s still breathing.
I have to go to Walmart today. I haven’t been to Walmart without him in 7 years. I went to Ace Hardware yesterday. Without him. It’s weird being in the car alone. I’d take Toby but he won’t get into the car without a big fight. Once he’s inside, he’s perfectly happy and loves the ride. I have no clue why the whole process of getting in is such a hassle. But I’m not strong enough to lift his 160 pounds up and in. Anyway…
It’s hot. We’re now at Day 22 of temps over 100 and little to no rain. We desperately need the rain.
I haven’t written since Jake got sick. Due to circumstances, there was no Thursday Thoughts last week so no new words. I’ll figure something out for Wednesday. Not sure about tomorrow.
We’ll be going back to the vet’s either today or tomorrow for more blood work. The test on the lymph cells to determine if the cancer has spread is also hanging out there. I can’t breathe for a moment whenever I think about that. Anyway…
So that’s it for me. What’s up in your neck of the woods?

All I can say is, “Hugs, Silver and Jake.” I’m so sorry. ♥
:HUGS: Don’t worry about writing right now. Your brain has other things to think about. Unless writing can be some kind of escape from all that, then go for it. Jake is still in my thoughts, as are you. :Extra hugs: The heat is gross and rude. This, too, shall pass… but enough already.
Not much is up here. It’s hot. Lumpy is still around and we’re both driving ourselves crazy trying to think of ways to help her. But she’s a wild critter and there’s nothing we can do, short of getting the DNR to come out and shoot her (which opens the whole bag of having gov’t people on our property… I don’t want that… and yes, I am a redneck). Now, we just sit around hoping to find that she’s passed on quietly, even if it is under the deck, only to see her wandering the woods near the yard. I’ll say one thing for her, she’s a tough old deer.
Update: Hubs found Lumpy this morning under the deck. She passed away in her sleep last night. =o( We’ll miss her. She was a good deer and an excellent mama whose genes are now a big part of this healthy herd.
😢 The good thing is she was a good mama.

I saw the news on Lumpy. She found her happy place on your land and she went peacefully, curled up safe and quiet where her “people” would find her and know so they wouldn’t wonder and worry She was specail, as are you and Hubs!
Writing is what it is. I probably won’t be able to focus for shite until that one report comes back regarding Jake’s liymph glands. He seems a bit better each day but such a long road ahead of us.
Agreed on the heat. It sucks donkey…stuff. Also, hugs back at’cha!
I have had you and Jake in my thoughts all weekend. I keep praying that he starts eating more and building back his strength. I bet he needs a bath, it can wait. If you have them, baby wipes help.
Going out w/o Jake after 7 yrs has to be very difficult. You are very strong to be able to do it.
Man that heat has been BAD! I sure hope they are right and it breaks later this week.
I just got back from the pain Dr. He’s going to inject a block into my Occipital nerve. If it works he’ll do it again a few weeks later to prove it worked. If that’s successful I will go to the hospital and he will do a nerve oblation. I need a driver for that one, so we’ll see.
I wish you a good day
So I can’t spell 😉. It’s Ablate not Oblate.😁
I parsed the medial term. 🙂 Here’s hoping the procedure works! You need relief. I’d drive you if I was there. Hopefully, one of the boys can help out. 🤞🏼
Thank you for all the good thoughts with Jake. He’s eatch a little more but still not like what he should. He actually barked today while we were outside. He’d done his business and was laying down in the shade for a moment of fresh air. The postman walked by and Toby started barking so Jake barked too. That’s first time since he got sick with this round. I’m hoping the home-made mush (ground chicken, brown rice and cottage cheese) will appeal to him and he’ll start eating more. If he eats it tonight, I’ll mix some kibble in tomorrow. We go back Wed for another blood test to check on his red count and the anemia.
Hope you’ve have a peaceful day!
