Thursday Thoughts: Universal Purpose

Writers are wired a little differently. Oh, we look normal. Mostly. And we act normal. Usually. And we drift through the world around us with a sense of wonder. At least that’s how I look at us. Frankly, we’re an odd lot. We talk to imaginary people. We live in imaginary worlds. If we stare at you when we’re out and about, don’t take offense. We’re trying to eavesdrop on your conversation for inspiration or trying to figure out how to fit you into our latest book. Writers, tell me this isn’t true of us? And do it with a sincere face that doesn’t give away the fact you are lying through your teeth. As usual, the Universe has thoughts…

Silver, it’s the way you think. That’s your purpose.

It’s never been about what work you choose, what gifts you develop, or what niche you fill—let those be for your pleasure.

Think as only you can think. Feel as only you can feel. And watch as connections are made, lives are changed, and worlds come tumbling into existence.

Serendipitously,
The Universe

P.S. Silver, this is why you’re here.

And yes, I’m pleased to know this is why I’m here because deep down, I know it’s true. Take that last paragraph to heart, writers. “Think as only you can think. Feel as only you can feel.” That’s our “voice.” That’s why each of us can write the same plot but it will be a completely different story. Find your voice and use it. Make the connections, change the lives, and create those worlds so that readers have a place to go.

Don’t fret, dear readers. I’m not leaving you out completely. This is a message for you, as well. Think your thinks and feel your feels. Live your lives. And enjoy reading what you enjoy reading.
