Wakin’ Up Monday

Making coffeeAs I was writing this last night, I had the Folger’s jingle as an earworm. You remember it? “The best part of waking up is Folger’s in your cup…” But like the graphic, you have to be awake enough to make the coffee before you can wake up. I set up our “pot” the night before and all we have to do is add water. I have a home version of a Bunn so it brews quick and hot. Thank goodness!

This is a crazy-busy week. Today, I’m with The Only for a regularly scheduled follow-up with her glaucoma surgeon. It’s early. I’ll need that to-go cup! Tomorrow, Baseball Boy defends his masters thesis. We’ll be there to offer moral support. I have a couple of deadlines. Yay. (Where’s that sarcasm font when I need it?)

I spent the weekend being lazy–meds made sure I slept late and other than dinner with Lawyer Guy, I stayed in bed reading and catching up on Season Two of LOST GIRL. I love that series, but seriously, Bo, you need to drop Lauren and get back with Dyson. Hello, wolf! D’uh. If you don’t watch it, it’s a Canadian-made SyFy channel series about the Fae in the modern world. It’s dark and sexy and I’ve really enjoyed it. Next up, Season Three.

Reading. I finished off the last two books in Kathryne Kennedy’s Relics of Merlin “series.” As there were only three books–sadly–it’s more of a trilogy, but I hope she might publish more. They’re about magic in the Victorian era. Fun stuff! Well written and entertaining. I’m also reading contest entries of the suspense variety but I can’t mention titles until finalists announced.

What about y’all? Runners? Did you run well? Readers, what did you read? What other fun things did you see or do?

Well I finished reading Too Hot to Handle by Victoria Dahl ov the weekend. I love her books usually, but could never get past one issue with hero in this book, so still pondering my review. Reading Waking up to You by Leslie Kelly now, and already hooked.

Walked 3.5 miles on Saturday at 5k training. Even managed to run about .2 of that. First time I’ve run in months, and it felt great! Thinking I might be able to start running some again soon. 🙂

Good luck to The Only at her appointment and Baseball Boy tomorrow.

Hey, it’s a wakin’ up kinda day, sounds like! 😆 And you were very…athletic this weekend. 😉 I know you’ve missed the running. Hope you’re out there pounding the pavement again soon.

  2. I’ve had those programmable coffee makers before. But I always forget to make the coffee ahead of time. Most mornings I can successfully make a pot. Every once in a while I forget the grounds and make a pot of hot water.

Sorry your week is crazy and that you spent the weekend feeling crappy. I hope the crappy is gone so you can handle the crazy better. :hugs:

I walked around ‘the block’ this weekend. Not sure how many miles that was, but let’s just say it was uphill both ways. I finally got to read again this weekend. AND I wrote some, too. So it was a win all the way around. In the fun things to see category – roadrunners! And a little frog.

    • Silver James says:

Roadrunners! I saw one a few weeks ago near the State Fair grounds. They aren’t really indigenous here, especially in the middle of urban sprawl. It was cool to see! Sounds like country living is going to agree with you. Of course, if I had a stream, I’d be down there all the time. 😀

Mine isn’t programmable. We still have to add the water, but it takes about two minutes to brew a full pot. And all we do IS add water. No buttons to turn on. (And I’ve forgotten to empty previous grounds and fix fresh. Ugh. 😛 )

I set up my coffee maker the night before too, lol.

I never run “well” but we did get in our 6.5 miles. I’m swamped with a deadline myself, so I didn’t get much reading in. Did watch PROMETHEUS which I hated….even more than I disliked Cowboys & Aliens the week before….

Sounds like you have a crazy week. Hang in there!

    • Silver James says:

Hey, at least you run! That’s more than I do. I hated running when I had to do it for PT. 😛

Ugh on PROMETHEUS. Yeah…won’t be bothering to watch it. It didn’t look like anything I’d enjoy from the trailers so that’s two hours of my life I won’t have to get back. 😉

Good luck with your own deadline!
