Bucket List 41-50

notebookHa! I should have started doing these twenty at a time because the first item on today’s list relates to #40. And iPods. And how I should get one–which I did, but then lost it. And I’m halfway through the list. Yay!

41. Learn how to use the iPod I should get before I do that…*nods* [I sort of learned how before I lost it. Darn things are tiny! And yay for iPhones!]

42. Clean out my office and get it organized. [I’ve moved offices. But this is still on the list. Because I still have stuff in the old office and the new office is totally disorganized. Again. :P]

43. See a wild wolf.

44. Reread the “In Death” series… [Did this. Several times. Not marking it off because I’ll read them all again!]

45. …and the Witchworld (Andre Norton) series – at least the ones I’ve collected. [I’m still finding newer ones that came out after I quit reading. That’ll be a vacation project on of these years.]

46. Watch all the DVDs on my TBW list. [See #30 which had to do with books on my TBR pile. Another unreachable intangible! 😆 ]

47. Attend RWA Nationals. [I go every year now. Maybe I should change this to Thrillerfest, since I also belong to the ITW now. Hrmmmm…]

48. Meet Jim Butcher. (Author of the Dresden series of books) [This could happen. I’ve met his wife and sister. On Twitter, anyway. 😆 ]

49. Write a screenplay that is made into a movie.

50. Write a book that is optioned so I get to write the screenplay that is made into a movie.

I’ve written a couple of screenplays. I have a couple of books that might make good movies. Well…I think so anyway. So, here’s a question for you. What book that you’ve written (writers) or read (readers) would you like to see made into a movie?shifty-eyes-ani2faster

  1. Cool items in this ten, Silver. Good luck getting the office organized. Mine was semi-organized for like a week after we moved here. I keep meaning to read Andre Norton. I found a whole box of her books at a thrift sale of some sort years ago, and now they’re sitting on a shelf taunting me. Have you read Jim Butcher’s epic fantasy series? It’s way cool. I could totally see some of your books being made into movies, Silver, but…

And here’s my problem with your question… Hollywood totally screws up like 90% of the books made into movies (more now than they used to). I don’t want to see them screw up your stories or my stories or the stories I love to read. I finally broke down and watched ‘Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief’ and arrgghh. On the other hand, if you could find someone to do it successfully, I’d love to see Fablehaven by Brandon Mull made into a movie.

Yeah, I know Hollywood messes up but still… I do have one screenplay that I would have loved to Sam Elliott and Tom Selleck in. I’m afraid they might be a little long in the tooth now. I keep toying with the idea of turning the screenplay into a book–a Gothic Western. Like I have time for more projects, right?!? 🙄

I love Andre Norton. I started with THE BEASTMASTER and THE SIOUX SPACEMAN and then moved into the Witchworld series. They’ve held up well!

Hmmm, I’d be lost without my iPhone and not because of all the apps – I hate working on such a tiny screen – I needs my music !!!

I don’t even have an office girl so cheer up. I work at the kitchen table :/

I soooo need to read the Dresden series … and the In Death series

And, to answer your question: I can’t say I’d like to see ANY of my stories made into a movie ’cause they could never cast my characters and I know they’d mess up the story –
EDIT: I see B.E. is of the same mind on this 😉

B.E. – And now you know why I have to see a movie first if it’s based upon a book; if I do it the other way I HATE the movie. I am lucky and can ignore most of the movie if I read the book second. It’s like being able to re-visit a world I liked living in only getting the ‘this is what REALLY happened’ account !

I usually have a good sense of any actor/actress I’d like to see as my characters. Signing them to star is another question. 😆 And yeah, my iPhone is HEAVY on the music!!!!

If you came to Dragon*Con this year, you could cross #48 off.

  4. On 45: I have most (not all, but over 80″ pb shelf space) of Andre Norton’s books, but they’re so old some have under $.50 prices on the covers. I tweet daily quotes from the Witch World series from @sueannbowling about 1 week in four (including today’s, “She would have to rely on her own choices and powers.” Norton. Context?) Then each Wednesday on my blog I give the contexts for the previous week, including a link to goodreads for the book.

I love your lists! I get a lot of emails from readers saying that they’d like to see my Hitwoman series made into movies. I’ve optioned a screenplay…not all it’s cracked up to be…. 😉

Got something to say?
