Do you ever read a book or catch something on the internet and think, “Gee…I wish I’d said that!” Yeah. Me, too. 😉
So here are some of those quotes, lines, internet It’s-A-Thing(tm) and what not to keep you entertained on this happy hump day…
Next time a stranger talks to me when I’m alone, I will look at them–shocked–and just whisper quietly, “You can see me?”
I swear that’s going in a book. Some how, some way.
The probability of being seen is directly proportional to the stupidity of your actions.
Yeah, want to use that one, too. Now, an old favorite. From NAKED IN DEATH (JD Robb): Roarke to Eve…
“You know, lieutenant, you wear your weapon the way other women wear pearls.”
Sinjen would say this to Sade but…well…plagiarism, y’know? And he’d call her Special Agent but still… And as long as I’m very likely going to reread NID because…well…it’s that time of year, here’s the opening paragraph–and one of my favorite openings of all time. I’m soooo jealous I didn’t write this.
She woke in the dark. Through the slats on the window shades, the first murky hint of dawn slipped, slanting shadowy bars over the bed. It was like waking in a cell.
What about y’all? Liza, are you ready for your NID reread? 😉 Who found a quote, quip, or opening they love? SHARE!

I’m totally ready for my NID reread now! Glad I have it on my kindle now. 🙂 I’m down to needing about half of the In Death books now. Thinking about just biting the bullet and just buying the rest. I’ll try and think of a quote to post later.
I want the whole series in hardback and on my Kindle. I should probably concentrate on getting them on Kindle first, though. 😆 There needs to be an alert system on when they go on sale at Amazon.
LOVE that first quote! Nothing on my end – have quoted myself out over on my blog (you know, it being Inspiration Wednesday and all). Oh, and the second quote – ALWAYS!!
Headed over there in a short to see what words of wisdom you have for today, Janet. 😉 That second one should be like Parkinson’s Corollary to Murphy’s Law of the Peter Principle. Or something.
FB is awesome for quotes like your first two this morning, Silver. I usually share those with the Kid. Last night she got “I’d fight a bear for you. Not a grizzly. Or a brown bear. Or a panda. Maybe like a Care Bear? I’d fight one of those sonsabitches for you.” Or I share them on my page, like this morning’s “Writing is like homework, really hard homework, every day, for the rest of your life. You want glamorous? Throw glitter at the computer screen. – Katrina Monroe.”
Still no reading quotes to offer up. I know I found a couple in Gorky Park, but I was so intent on reading, they got passed along the way.
I have a whole Pinterest board called Illustrating Thoughts where I keep stuff. Those two happened to come in an email and I laughed so I wrote them down. I’m slowly “deflowering” my bulletin board of old post-its and getting them organized in files/in my writing journal and those two made me laugh. Again. Hence the inspiration for today’s post.
Glad you’re enjoying Gorky Park. Read that ages ago. LIked it.
No quotes here, either. I’m terrible about stopping and writing down a good one. I can think of a couple but I think I’ve already said them and I didn’t get them from a book…
“Were it not for Hope, the Heart would Break” – that one’s on my website. I want to get a tattoo with that and a very whimsical bird. I’m thinking for my upcoming birthday (I mean, I will be 41! no better time right??) , but I’m kinda scared about it!
And the other quote I have pinned above my pc screen “No matter what you do, work at it with all your might.” Ecc 9:10. It goes with my whole FOCUS mantra this year. Oh and, “Every little thing adds up to something BIG.”
Those are awesome bits of inspiration, Ash! I don’t think I could do a tattoo. I like to look at ink on certain guys but I don’t like needles, pain, or stuff like that there. *nods* Stopping to make notes is something that’s so much easier with the Kindle. I don’t know how reviewers do it when they want to remember big chunks. Oh, I have started keeping a little pad of post-it flags next to me when I’m reading a paper book. I can stick it on the page and then come back later to copy whatever caught my eye. 😀
I read almost exclusively on my iPad now, and I STILL can’t remember to flag quotes. I get so involved in the story.
And yeah…I hate needles. But man, I want one sooo bad I’m really thinking of going for it. I’m just scared I’ll get partway through and give up. Then I’m stuck with half a tattoo! lol
Not an easy decision because…yeah. Tats are pretty much all or nothing! 😆 And if it’s one that’s very detailed, you’ll have to go in multiple times.
I have many printed/written down at home (under my desk glass and places where I can see them when I need some uplifting) and FB has lots of good ones.
I have this by my desk at work there are so many people out there
who will tell you that you can’t. What you’ve got to do is turn around
and say “watch me”. And post card with Not Now! My Muse is Kicking Ass by Lori Foster.
Ashlynn I have 2 tats, an actual wolf paw print on my hip (my kindred spirit) and carpe diem written(small script) on inside of my left forearm, I’m going to get carpe noctem(same script) on the my right same place since I write better at night. It depends where you have it placed, I’m not a big needle lover and my pain level is not the greatest. Silver is right all or nothing and detailing can smart some.
Great topics Silver =)
Love your inspiration, Kimber! Those are good ones. I say we all need to stand up and shout, “Yo! World! Watch me!!!!” *nods*
Wow. That felt good! 😀 Try it, everyone!
Its kind of a nice way to say kiss my a$$- you doubted me, but I didn’t-lol
Precisely! 😀
