Oh yeah. Figured that title would get your attention. 😆 Monday evening, I was looking for something to read. I had books arriving on my Kindle on Tuesday–books I couldn’t wait to dive into, but I had a few hours to kill, and hopefully fall asleep. I have some short contest entries to read but I wasn’t in the mood. I wanted something I could sink my teeth into but that I could put down to read new stuff and then come back to. Want to guess what I downloaded from my Kindle library? You get three guesses and the first two don’t count. Of course it was JD Robb’s NAKED IN DEATH. I ❤ that book like damn and whoah! And yes, I share snippits from it. A lot. But tough. Here’s more. FYI, these are just random lines that caught my eye during various rereads of the book.
Broadway was noisy and crowded, a party where rowdy guests never left.
She scanned the building first, fifty floors of gleaming metal that knife into the sky from a hilt of concrete.
The sun was bright as a sword but the air had the snapping bite of a petulant child.
His voice was smooth, with a whisper of the charm of Ireland over it, like rich cream over warmed whiskey.
“I make money, you make justice. Neither is a simple matter.” ~Roarke to Eve
Okay. I’ll stop. I have pages of these marked on my Fire. Someday, I’ll quote the scene where Roarke reveals the button. Even thinking about it chokes me up until I’m all full of AWWwwwwWWWWwwwwWWWWW. *sniffle* Awwww! And yes, I still want to be LaNora/JD when I grow up!
So, readers. Tell me. If you had four hours to read, what book would you pick up? What book would be your automatic go to, no matter how many times you’ve read it?

You do love your Naked in Death. And with quotes like that, it’s easy to see why. =o)
With only four hours to read, after which I’d put it down to read a new book? Something short – that’s for sure. Maybe an old crime novel or a mystery or a quick romance. I hate stopping a book in the middle to pick up another book. Not that I won’t do it – especially if the new book is one I’ve been waiting to read – but if I know ahead of time, I’ll try not to get sucked into something meaty. Otherwise, I have to finish before I start on the new book.
Yeah…I thought I could put NID down too. Soooo didn’t happen. 😆
You make me =) Mom was always so excited when a JD Robb book was coming, she liked Nora but the suspense with forensic was what she loved. That is why she liked Cornwall also.
Got an offer on the house, they are doing there inspection this PM, she wants to close 9/18! So keep good thoughts plz!!
Its Hump Day – have a great day!!!
Kimber! That’s awesome news!!! Sending many good thoughts for a great inspection and a quick closing! Your mom sounds like she was a jewel–and obviously had great tastes in reading material. 😉
Positive thoughts headed your way, Kimber!
You know I have to read Naked in Death at least once a year! I so see a re-read this weekend now! If nothing else I have to read the scene with the button. 😉
This is like my second or third reread this year. *headdesk* It’s like reading crack. I have that whole scene highlighted. I really need to go back and highlight each time he reaches into his pocket BEFORE that scene! *deep feminine sigh* ❤
