Not Much Monday

Write club rules *points at cute puppy pic* See this? Yeah…that’s pretty much gonna be me for the next umpteen days/weeks/months. Still working on finalizing DOUBLE CROSS. I’ve heard back from one beta reader. She liked it but didn’t love it. I’ll probably address some of her “no-love” moments in revisions, but not all. I’m also doing my best to add new words to RED DIRT ROYALTY #3. I’m up over 16K at moment, though everything past the first 3 chapters is in bits and pieces. My process is such a mess. πŸ˜†

Got to see Stormageddon and the Dozer on Saturday. Dozer would go hide in his kennel but Storm/Sprout chased him out, climbed in, and shut the gate behind himself. Only and I were laughing about S/S putting himself in timeout. πŸ˜‰

It got hot. But this is June in Oklahoma. It’s about time. It could stay cool and make me happy but the flowers are all screwed up. Only has blooming mums in her front flower bed. My day lilies are just sort of sprouting leaves and not much else.

I also worked on budgets–both monetary and time-wise–for RWA Nationals in July. I managed to sneak in and get really lucky on my plane tickets. $425.00 roundtrip, 2 bags fly free. I’d forgotten I’d signed up for the librarian meet-and-greet. I need to figure out a 100 really cheap “goodie bags” with fun stuff that will make them remember me. I’m hoping I have enough flashlight keychains left and I’m considering a CD with first chapters of some of my books available in print. Those are easy to burn. Then postcards and bookmarks. It all has to be stuff I can stick in a suitcase.

One more thing then back to work for me. I’m thinking about entering the International Digital Awards. I have five books eligible”
Night Shift (erotic or paranormal category?) Novel
Blue Moon (paranormal) Short
Moonstruck: Secrets (paranormal) Novel
Moon Shot (paranormal) Short
Faerie Faith (paranormal) Short

See my problem? I’ll be competing against myself. πŸ˜† So, dear readers, opinions? Which books do you think will do the best? And if any of you would like to judge (FREE .pdf copies of books) you can get more info and the link to sign up HERE.

What about y’all? How was your weekend?

  1. I tossed Dying Embers’ hat in the ring for the IDA. Still debating whether to go for it with Accidental Death, but like you said, the books would be competing against each other, so I might just let DE ride alone. (Thank goodness my book won’t be competing against yours.)

I did some major weeding on Friday, but it was the day before Hubs sprayed the yard for bugs and I forgot the Deep Woods Off, so I spent the weekend scratching bug bites. (Yes, I tried every product and home remedy I could find which worked in varying degrees off and on.) The whole thing made me kinda cranky and anti-social. On the upside, Hubs did get the lawn sprayed, so no ticks again for a while. I finished reading the third book in a fantasy trilogy by Jeffe Kennedy – The Talon of the Hawk. It was awesomesauce. I’d been waiting for this one because Ursula was my favorite of the three sisters the books follow. And she didn’t disappoint. Wow. Other than that, not much going on over here.

Okay, I still haven’t gotten around to reviewing for you. *adds to list* As for competing against ourselves, there is something to be said for double placement. πŸ˜‰

Witch hazel is about the only remedy I know for bug bites. That and calamine. Well, I do know more, but those two seem to work. Mostly. πŸ˜†

I keep seeing Jeffe’s series. I need to check it out. I just started DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE (from the library). It’s the first book in a fantasy series. The author’s voice is rather interesting, reminding me a bit of Patrick Rothruss but without the meandering descriptions.

You and your crazy writing schedule and process, but I can say it works for you. πŸ™‚

As for the book contest, EASY. (you knew I would say that, right?) As for category, that’s a toss-up. And I really don’t have any advice on that one.

I know I went MIA again. I’m trying. I have way to much to do to be hiding, so dragging myself out of my cave. I did start the re-write of Rough Edges, but not to far into it. Gotta change that. ly!

    • Silver James says:

Hey, I’m a firm believer in a process that works and yeah, mine’s truly crazy but then again, so am I. πŸ˜† I’m thinking Easy for the erotic category because it’s a little graphic and the sexy bits are important to the story. The short entry is still a toss up. And no worries on the MIA. Me, too! Now we both need to get work. *nods*

    • Silver James says:

Yay for bush planting! I need to tear a bunch out. πŸ˜† That’s two votes for NIGHT SHIFT and one for MOON SHOT. You liked it better than BLUE MOON?

Ink and Chrome? What’s the series about? Yes, I’ve been living in a cave. πŸ™„

Ugh on the dude at work. Sorry you’re working so hard but are you at least getting overtime pay?
