Okay. Just kidding. Mostly. I finished edits of RDR#3, which has the working title of FOR THE LOVE OF A COWGIRL, at 11:30 Saturday night and it went to my CP and my beta reader. This is one of those books. I fought with the characters the entire time I was writing it. And I’m torn. Part of me thinks the book is so awful I should burn it to a CD, take that CD out and use it as a skeet target. I have a shotgun. I can do this. Another part thinks this might be some of my best work. The rest of me thinks an entire bottle of wine is in order. We’ll see what the readers and my editor says.
Insomnia and I are BFFs lately. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with the stress of the deadline. Of course, I have a couple of more of those coming soon so I don’t get much time off. With the insomnia, I have been reading a lot. I’m on a Kristen Ashley kick. Read all but the last of her Rock Chick series…saving it because I’m supposed to read a book from her Mountain series first, but ended up reading another ‘Burg book and also most of the Mountain series. This is all backtracking because I started with her Mystery Man series and worked through the Chaos MC series. I enjoy her voice. A lot. She has a formula. It works but I’m looking forward to a little diversity when I finish up with AT PEACE. Then I need to go back to the Mountain series for BREATHE and then ROCK CHICK REVOLUTION. I think I’ll read either Jen Apodaca’s EXPOSING THE HEIRESS or Ilona Andrews’ MAGIC SHIFTS. Depends on what I’m writing at that point.
Summer finally caught up to us. It is HOT! But it was August 6 before we hit our first triple digit day. As we say ’round here, it’s ugly hot.
I feel like I’ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks. I need to get social again. I still have a bunch of writing to do so I can’t just take a vacation, but I’m going to try to set up time to be on FB and Twitter again. Problem is, because I’ve been living in Deadline Cave, I don’t have much to talk about. So…you guys need to speak up! What’s goin’ on in your lives?
