I’m back to where I can check in on #1lineWed on Twitter–at least later in the day. Coffee with the CP first up this morning. I’ve missed reading everyone’s one liners. The rules state the lines come from the WIP and since FOR THE LOVE OF A COWGIRL hasn’t been officially submitted yet, YAY!
So here are a couple of end-of-chapter hooks to get you excited–hopefully–for it’s release next year. So without further adieu…
From the end of Chapter 3…
He lowered his head and his lips brushed across hers. She licked her bottom lip, her tongue darting out to sample the taste of him. He moved in again, no hesitation this time. His lips fastened onto hers, sucking in her bottom lip as his teeth nipped. One hand secured the back of her head, angling it to the perfect position for his tender attack.
Normally bold in her fantasies about Clay, she now felt shy and her actions mirrored her emotions. Her hands, hesitant and timid, latched onto his leather jacket—he always wore leather in her dreams—and clung there like her life depended on it. Emotions rushed through her and a little voice said she should run. Ignoring it, Georgie pressed into their kiss, her tongue now bold enough to dance with his—until he pulled away.
“Georgie, wake up. We’re getting ready to land.” Breathing hard, she opened her eyes to discover that Clay was watching her, amusement twitching his lips into a sexy grin.
“Oh, pistachios on pita. Please tell me I wasn’t talking in my sleep.”
And from the end of Chapter 7…
He didn’t give her a chance to catch her breath before he whirled her out on the dance floor. The music was slow, bluesy, and she just sort of melted into his arms. She couldn’t help herself. It’s like she fit against him. Of course, the four-inch heels helped. And his broad shoulders. Arms curled around her. Strong hand holding hers.
His lips brushed her forehead and he whispered, “I think it’s time we got out of here and went back to my place.”
She should say no. She should call Boone to come extricate her. She should— Georgie looked up, saw a tenderness in Clay’s gaze that turned her boneless. She was in so much trouble now.
Anyone read a good hook they want to share? Or has written one? 😉
Yay! I’ve missed your snippets on Wednesdays. But I totally understand. Between your deadline and mine, it’s been hectic. I’m free now, too. At least for a little while. Wish in One Hand is up for pre-order! Whew. :collapses: Since it’s up, though, I guess it’s not a WIP anymore, so I can’t share it for Wednesday. =o(
Okay, here’s the hook for the end of my November release book – Bloodflow Ch.1:
His stomach hitched up into his ribcage. Someone had to make this lunacy stop. Someone had to prevent what happened to Evelyn from happening to anyone else’s loved ones. If this project worked the way it was supposed to, other lives could remain whole instead of being shattered. If he could stop just one travesty from happening, it might be worth the shattering of his own values instead. The possibility existed that he could control Hermes enough to stop its worst aspects from being realized.
One call to Mertex could save lives.
Payton didn’t allow another thought past what he knew was a blatant rationalization. He simply returned his revolver to its place in the bottom drawer and picked up the phone.
Awesome! Can’t wait to read this one.
