Monday Rewind

funnydogs MY coffeeNot. Enough. Coffee. In. The. World. My brain is still suffering Deadline Meltdown. The thought of sitting at the keyboard and writing more than a few hundred words makes me run away in full *FLAIL* mode. Ah well. This too shall pass.

I plan to be back in social media mode this week. Last week, due to circumstances and on account of because, I figured I might better stay away.

Writing: THE BOSS AND HIS COWGIRL (RDR#3) has its blurb but I don’t have official authority to unveil it. The blurb is AWESOME!!! Since the climax of THE BILLIONAIRE’S INCONVENIENT COWGIRL (new working title of RDR#4) is set at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, I’ve been watching the early go-rounds. I was pretty darn close on most things, but have a couple of “facts” to correct when revisions come back. No idea what my next project will be. Sales tell me to work on the next Hard Target book. Iffy is more interested in the Nightriders, if my flash fiction challenges have been any indication. Business says get the darn proposal book written and sent off to fulfill the agent request. My brain just wants to remain jelly and not think at all. I’ve written what…five(?) books this year? I can’t even count them my brain is so befuddled.

Sports: OSU is headed to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, against Ole Miss. Go Pokes! OU ended up ranked #4 in the play-off rankings. They’ll play #1 Clemson in the Orange Bowl and if they win, play either #2 Alabama or #3 Michigan State for the national championship. Go Sooners! There’s only 74 days until pitchers and catchers report. My Cardinals didn’t re-sign John Lackey, one of the best pitchers in their rotation this year. I sure hope John Mozeliak, Card’s GM, has something up his sleeve.

Reading: Did a lot of that last week. I’ve blazed through the updated versions of Jen Lyon’s Wing Slayer Hunter series. By the time y’all read this, I’ll most likely have finished CAGED MAGIC, her most current. I think it might be her best one. I also squeezed in a read of our own B.E. Sanderson’s BLOODFLOW. I got it on Kindle Unlimited, and once I post my review, I’ll buy a copy because I want it on my keeper shelf!

TV: Haven’t done much TV watching. Still keeping up with NCIS and CODE BLACK. The rest are languishing on my DVR. I’ve indulged in the Hallmark Channel’s back-to-back Christmas movies on a few occasions. Yes, I’m a sucker for the sappy HEAs. What can I say? I write romance and even my darkest stuff has HEAs.

This week’s schedule: Posting here every day. Keeping up with FB, and responding to other people’s blog posts. Decorating for Christmas. Did I mention we’re retiring the Cactus Tree? With Stormageddon so active, we don’t want to take the chance he’ll pull it down on top of him. One, it’s really light and mostly unstable, and two, uhm…barb wire! I spent all day Friday shopping for a new tree. Found one Lawyer Guy and I both liked (I texted photos ๐Ÿ˜† ) and I have hopes I can leave it decorated, put a cover on it, and store it in a closet. We’ll see. Now I have to find the box with the ornaments we haven’t used in 20 years, get it set up, and decorate it. Whoppee. I did get some of the outdoor lights up yesterday–on the front porch. And I got the partially dead lights on Nessie replaced. I also started the annual Stocking Stuffer Hunt(tm). ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oh, and a Christmas edition of my newsletter composed and sent. And maybe some writing. Hopefuly Iffy will cooperate.

One last note, today is “Pearl Harbor Day.” It was truly a day that lives on in infamy. That’s it for me. What’s up with y’all?

  1. Nope, not enough coffee. We need to commandeer Columbia, kick the drug lords out, and use those fields for more coffee beans. Jus’ sayin’. Yay for book stuff! You’ve been a busy bee this year. I get tired just thinking about it. I hope you enjoyed BloodFlow. And I hope you have fun decorating for Christmas.

I’ve got about 30K words left to edit, then off to the editor. I love this book. It’s so much fun. For me, anyway. Then I’ll have a month to work on something else. Either editing Fertile Ground or Up Wish Creek, or finishing the first draft of Natural Causes. Or maybe I’ll chuck the schedule and do something new. I sent my newsletter out last week. Did some marketing stuff. Read some stuff. The usual. Spent time yesterday watching the bowl selection hoopla. I’m tickled that MSU and OU made the final four. Especially tickled the evil OSU didn’t and they ended up in the Battlefrog bowl with ND. ;o)

    • Silver James says:

Yeah…ND and Evil OSU…will watch that one and make fun! Congrats to Sparty! If they beat ‘Bama and we beat Clemson…There will have to be a bet made. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did enjoy BLOODFLOW! I’ll get the review done this week. RL and slow brain is still plaguing me. ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m all for more coffee beans! We can grow wine grapes here in the US. Too bad we haven’t figured out coffee trees yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And yay for loving the book and editing! You go, girl!

Well, I spent the weekend getting 13 blog posts scheduled for the Mistletoe Madness hop. Yep, nothing like waiting for the last minute. lol I did take a break to watch my Titans pull off the win yesterday. First win at home in 11 home games! To say fans are over the moon might be an understatement.

I also made time to read the upcoming Jennifer Estep book in her Elemental Assassin series. It comes out in February and remains one of my favorite UF series. I’m somewhat of a Grinch when it comes to decorating for Christmas. I live alone and no one really comes to my house during the holidays, so it seems crazy to deal with the set up and clean up. I did however buy a pre-lit Christmas wreath for my front door. Battery operated on a timer and the lights go from colored to white lights for 6 hours and then off for 18 hours. Worth every penny from Target.

    • Silver James says:

We used to do massive outside decorating. Now I do the lighted garland draping the brick-work and front door on the porch (it’s inset) with a row of lighted candy canes down the walk around the house to the driveway. The front walk from the street has solar lights. Inside has gotten toned down in recent years, too. Old and lazy. LOL

Yay for the Titans! I know this has been a tough year for their fans. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Tell me about the coffee issue. I had to get up and not have any this morning, on top of which I am trying to cut back on the caffeine. I am not fun to be around right now.
Can you put the cactus outside?? I want pics of the new one.
I got most of the decorating done before today’s surgery, but since I am sitting here typing with the same hand they did it on, I think I will be good to go to finish.I just can’t pick up heavy things or grab with it very well. I made hubby stay home today and tomorrow, so he may not be happy with me that I probably won’t need him home tomorrow. Oops.
I will have to check out the book series you mentioned. I am working on the Kate Daniels books on audio now, have a Regency in paperback for bedtime, one on my Kindle app and on the Nook app a Lisa Kleypas that they are doing in a daily chapter release on the new thingy that they have, B&N Readouts.
I have Xmas presents to wrap, finish shopping and cards to do. Soon.

    • Silver James says:

Don’t over do that hand even if it feels okay!!! And yes, I’ll put a picture of the new tree here at at some point. I’ve debated putting the cactus out on the front porch. We’ll see.

Are you enjoying the KD books? I really enjoyed them and got hooked on the one book in their new series but then stuff happened and the 2nd book got delayed until next year sometime. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I hope to get more decorating done today. I did find the crate with the stockings and mantel garland. I have to clean house before I can tackle the new tree. LOLOL

Now take care of that hand! And I’m sorry about the caffeine. No way in hell I’d cut back. I’d be intolerable. Not that I’m a peach anyway. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. UGH… late again ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Silver, you never cease to amaze me. How you get all this done, when my daily goal is: ‘get out of bed so girls don’t miss the school bus’, is beyond me!!!

    HUGS

    • Silver James says:

Hey, getting out of bed and getting the girls on the bus is important! ๐Ÿ˜€

And thanks. I don’t feel like I’m doing all that much. I guess I am but I still fret when my brain refuses to engage in anything productive. ๐Ÿ˜†

Got something to say?
