Monday Countdown

loldog Monday Pup2There are 11 shopping days left before Christmas. You know, in case you didn’t remember.

I have the tree up. Still no ornaments. LOL I’ll get on that today. Maybe. I still have presents to buy though Amazon is my friend. I need a trip to B&N, though.

I have discovered Audible (and audio books). This is a departure for me. I’m normally not very aural. But with the right narrator, I’m hooked. I ended up using my free credits to get all 3 of the Others series books by Anne Bishop. If I keep my Audible subscription, I’ll have to save a monthly credit for the next book coming out in….uhm….March. I’m really looking forward to it. Anyway, I also broke down and bought Nalini Singh’s ANGELS’ BLOOD after checking the audio book from the library. Really enjoyed it too. And while there was no SLAVE TO SENSATION from Nalini’s Psy-Changling series available from the library, it was on sale at Audible so I snagged it even though the narrator was different. After sampling lots of books, narrators really can make or break an audio book. At the moment, I’m listening to EIGHTH GRAVE AFTER DARK. I’ve tried a couple of times to read the book and kept getting distracted so I’m trying the audio. And yes, I borrowed from the library.

Writing is still a non-starter at the moment. Doing some flash fiction but nothing very long or any definite project. I need to remedy that. Did I mention that THE BOSS AND HIS COWGIRL (RDR#3) releases on June 7th. No word on the cover yet but the blurb is awesome. I can’t wait to share it. I’m really hoping they go with my suggestion for the title for RDR#4, THE BILLIONAIRE’S INCONVENIENT COWGIRL. 🙂

SyFy has a new series, “The Expanse,” that starts tonight. On ad called it “Game of Thrones in space.” Dude! I’m all over that. I’m set to DVR tonight. We’ll see.

Sports are done for me until New Year’s with the bowl games, and baseball in the spring. I’m not big on the NFL or NBA. So anyway…

What else is going on? Uhm…not much. Weekend was gray and rainy–warm and spring-like on Saturday, chillier on Sunday. I sent out a December newsletter, but messed up a little. Ah well. It does contain a Moonstruck Christmas story snippet. I hope people open and enjoy it. Plus there’s a new contest.

Are y’all ready for Christmas? Who’s going to fun parties? Who’s doing the Christmas Flail(tm)? Yup. Me, too.

  1. Pre-Christmas is done here. Unless I get the urge to make fudge. Then again, I have chocolate on its way here from Swiss Colony, so I don’t really need the fudge. I still have to buy the ham. Is it just me or did the holidays sneak up on us this year?

Dude, I cannot do audible books. I don’t need someone else’s voice in my head when I read. (I have enough voices in my head already. LOL) Don’t worry about not writing right now. You’ve been running at full tilt all year. Probably need a recharge. Got your newsletter, and opened it, but I didn’t have time right then to read the snippet. It’s on the list for today.

I normally don’t like audio books either but they’re growing on me. And my eyes are enjoying the break. Reading until bleary/blurry-eyed every night is hard on them. I admit my eyesight is bad enough I’ve often worried what I’d do if I lost it. I don’t worry so much any more, especially with favorite books. 🙂

Stormageddon was here today so it was Monday. All day. I’m now a day behind on the week’s t0-do list. Ah well. LOLOL

Nalini has rock star narrators for her audiobooks. I also love Darynda’s audiobooks. In fact I get all the Charley books in audio rather than in print and have since about the 3rd book. With Nalini’s I get in both print and audio. The Kate Daniels’ series is full of awesome in audio too. I’m a pusher it seems for favorite audiobooks…lol I’ve had an audible account for years, so I have tons of audiobooks.

LOL I normally can’t “focus” when I’m listening. That’s why I always had trouble with lectures in college. I needed to read the book/notes/etc. As I get older, though, I’m giving it a try. But I’m the learning the narrator really makes or breaks for me. I resisted the Charley books because the narrator didn’t sound like the Charley I have in my head. But I also knew I wouldn’t sit down to finish read 8th Grave any time soon, so I checked it out of the library. The narrator grew on me so I finished the book. Can’t wait for 9th Grave!!!!

I listened from the very first book, so she is Charley for me. Lorelei King rocks! She does other series as well and I always have to get into the other story a bit before she takes shape for that story.

Got something to say?
