Wednesday Words: Curious Curiosity

We live in a curious world that is made more wonderful by curiosity. At least that was my thinking when I picked this week’s #1lineWed theme. As you’ve probably guessed, if you are curious at all, the theme is **CURIOUS/CURIOSITY**.

I thought I’d do something a little different this week. This snippet is from October’s Harlequin Desire, THE COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROPOSITION. Even though it has a release date, I’m currently doing line edits so it’s technically still a Work In Progress. Right? Right! So, here’s a little advance peek at Quin Kincaid and Deacon Tate.

Quin was falling under his spell again. She had to stop this. “You realize Christmas is only five days away, right? Some great father figure, with no decorations.” She sounded snippy. That was good. No sexy, kissy thoughts about this man. Staying mad. That was the key.

“S’cuse me?”

“Never mind. The sooner this is done, the sooner I can get back to regular duty. This is my last day before three weeks of vacation.”

“Big plans?”

“Yeah. I’m flying to Aspen for a ski vacation.”

“With your boyfriend?”

“I don’t have one. Not that it’s any of your business.” The man had kissed her and he was just now getting around to asking if she was attached?

“So…you’re spending Christmas in a hotel?”

“Again, not your business.”

“Fine. Sorry for being curious. Have fun, but I think you’ll be surprised how lonely it can be.”

“Lonely? The resort is booked full. Hard to be lonely with a lot of people around.”

Hmmm. Of course. All those families and couples. Fun times.”

“You don’t have a clue. Maybe I booked a singles package,” she sniped.

He nodded sagely and made that hmmm sound in his throat again.

“Look, I’m not here to discuss my private life.”

Deacon raised his arms in a symbol of surrender. “Sorry. I thought we were friends.”

“We can’t be friends. This is my job.”
Poor Quin. She just doesn’t have a clue… 😆 Do I have any Curious Georges out there? Show us your curiosity and share some words from your WIP!

  1. I can’t wait!

Sorry I’m late today. Power outage. Apparently other parts of this area got hammered with heavy-duty wind last night while we just got rain and thunder. Knocked out power for us for 15 hours. They said there were like 40 downed poles. Ugh. And this after we’d just gotten out internet back. Double Ugh. But I’m back. I hope.

No curiosity from me today. I’m too tired.
