Monday the 13th

You know, it seems like Monday the 13th should be far more unlucky than Friday the 13th because…Friday! Versus Monday! Anyway, it is once again Monday and time for me to talk about blah, blah, blah. I say that because it seems like I say the same thing every Monday. I’m writing this. I’m reading that. This team won or lost. I watching not much except the same ol’ same ol’. Blah. But y’all keep hanging around and I do try to post far more interesting things on other days of the week. So…my updates.

Let’s get to sports right off the bat. OSU beat Iowa State. This was not a gimme by a long shot. Iowa State surprised OU and took them down not long ago. OU has had to fight it’s way back to a position that might get them in the playoffs. OSU won’t get that far but each week they climb puts them in better position for a good bowl game. Both teams moved in the AP and Coaches Polls. We’ll have to wait until Tuesday to see the playoff standings. 😛

I finished off Joanne Wylde’s Reapers MC/Silver Bastards (and Devil’s Jacks) books. There are dangling threads I want sewn up and she didn’t tie them up in the one novella she’s written since REAPER’S FIRE, which released a year ago. SHADE’S LADY was pretty much a standalone as far as on-going series threads were involved. I haven’t found anywhere that she’s working on more Reaper books, or anything else at the moment. Color me with a sad face. 😦 I moved on to Erin Kellison’s Dragons of Bloodfire series. I caught them on Kindle sale PLUS on sale at Audible for $1.99 so I couldn’t resist. The books are short but she’s done some interesting world-building. I’ve read the first two in Kindle, though it’s been long enough I only sort of remember the story. Not sure where I’ll go from there. Maybe back to Michelle Sagawa’s Chronicles of Elantra series. I have some Audible credits I can spend. We’ll see what I’m in the mood for.

Writing is progressing well. I’m just over 30K words on the rewrite. Today is the first love scene. Fun times. Things will happen fast and furious after that. Zoe’s career takes off, she’s opening a concert for Deacon and the Sons of Nashville, and her narrow-between-the-eyes almost in-laws show back up to cause trouble. Not to mention what Tucker’s family gets up to. According to the NaNoWriMo stat page, if I keep up this pace, I’ll be finished with the first draft on November 20th. That would be awesome! It’d be more awesome if I could finish sooner.

On that note, I’m off to work. What about y’all? What did you do this weekend? Did your sport teams do well? What are you reading, writing, doing this week?

  1. Monday? It’s Monday again? Hey, you keep talking and I’ll keep listening. And while you do go over the same types of things every Monday, it’s still different. It’s all good, baby.

What I did… fishing. Loads of fishing. Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon. Didn’t catch any keepers, but still… I also did a fair amount of reading. And… :gasp:… some writing. I played in the ancestral trees, too. Watched a bit of TV, but nothing worth mentioning. It all blurs together.

Yeah. Life is pretty blurry these days. This week is supposed to be cool but not cold. Hope that encourages the fish to bite. I’ll be indoors writingwritingwriting madly! 😆
