So…I have one resolution for 2018–either do all my Christmas shopping by Labor Day or do it on line. This is the third year in a row I’ve been sick over the holidays and I’m sick and tired! I managed the familial rounds on Christmas Day and then I went to bed and pretty much stayed there until today, and it was noon before I was actually out of bed and moving. This is not the way to start a fresh new year that should be full of promise, new dreams and aspirations, and…stuffs.
So, that’s the state of me physically. I know part of it is I stay away from people as a rule. I do the shopping but I don’t get close to other shoppers, I don’t interact with clerks–yay for self-checkout–and I fear I’m becoming such a recluse that if I weren’t so persnickety about picking out my own groceries, I’d surrender to the temptation to order my groceries on-line from Walmart and go pick them up. Actually, I wouldn’t even have to do that. They bring your groceries out to your car! Sadly, that would mean I got almost no exercise, which we won’t discuss.
So, I have plans for 2018. I have books to write. I’m not promising everything I WANT to write gets written but if things fall into place, here’s what’s contracted for followed by what I want to add:
Contracted:
Kindle World: March – Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors
Harlequin Desire: Finals on Tucker’s book, write Cooper’s book and Bridger’s book, get contract for Boone, Dillon, and Hunter for 2019.
Planned:
Nightriders: Wizard’s book and Gunner’s book (which is a Christmas story)
Hard Target: Book #2 (not sure yet who’s story it will be. I’m hoping Kin’s)
The Penumbra Papers: Book #5 – Ariel, Book 4.5 – a Sade/Sinjen novella
Moonstruck Mob: If and when. I still want to do the three serials – Irish, Russian, and Italian. All it takes is time and inspiration.
Hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and a safe New Year celebration. May 2018 bring you all things warm and wonderful, fulfilled dreams, and many, many books read and/or written!

I have a college program in Prison and have a student who wants to write an Autobiography on his life and has never written a book. He would like some help in learning how to write a book….writing for Dummies. Do you have any suggestions?
James
James, most of my “Dummies” books deal with fiction–plotting, characterizations, etc. While on the surface, writing a novel and writing an autobiography or memoir might look like the same critter, they really aren’t, beyond the rules of language usage, grammar, and punctuation. 🙂 I did a little asking around and came up with a few titles for you that others have recommended for an absolute beginner. I’ve included the Amazon links so you can check them out.
1. Writing Your Legacy: The Step-by-Step Guide to Crafting Your Life Story https://smile.amazon.com/Writing-Your-Legacy-Step-Step/dp/1599638770/
2. Start Writing Your Book Today: A Step-by-Step Plan to Write Your Nonfiction Book, From First Draft to Finished Manuscript https://smile.amazon.com/Start-Writing-Today-Step-Step/dp/0996933115
3. Memoir Writing For Dummies https://smile.amazon.com/Memoir-Writing-Dummies-Ryan-Cleave/dp/1118414640/
Some of these might be available through the prison library, James. Worth checking for.
You’re back! Yay! I missed you. Sorry to hear you were sick over the holidays. :hugs; That sucks. Stupid germy people breathing all over the place. LOL, yeah, if it weren’t for occasional shopping I wouldn’t see other human beings at all. Except for Hubs. And that would be fine with me, but we need stuffs.
Looks like another busy year for you. You rock. I’ve got four books planned. This first one is being a bear, but it’ll get done and be out in February if I have to pull all-nighters to get it there.
Here’s to an awesome 2018 for us both! We’ve got this. :shakes pompoms: YAY! And now, back to work for me. I have to get this back to JC on Friday and for some reason, it won’t edit itself. Where are the magical fairies who come and edit my books while I sleep?? ;o)
FYI, I’m teaching an on-line course to RWA’s Kiss of Death chapter on adding “magical realism” to suspense and mystery plots, and I’m mentioning your Djinn books. 🙂
Squee! Thanks!
No, thank you for giving me a series to discuss. 🙂
