Thursday Thoughts: Universal Starts

When I finish a book–whether writing or reading–I’m faced with the decision of what to do next. Sometimes I have deadlines already in place and those deadlines dictate which project comes next. Sometimes, the deadlines are my own in that I know I want to write X books this year but as to which book in which series comes next, I don’t have to be hard and fast on deciding whose story to tell next. Reading is a bit easier, though I tend to read like I write–in series.

When the opportunity presents itself, I like to kick back and play with ideas, with scenes and characters in various projects just to see which one catches my attention and fires my imagination. That’s when writing is fun. And it’s always the way to get something finished, just like the Universe says.

Starting something, Silver, is the best way to finish something.

And just doing a teeny, tiny something today, anything, from wherever you are, is the best way to start something.

I’m not just a client,

Today, Silver. Make a call, ask a question, search the web, buy a book, pound the pavement, measure, cut, paste, poke, and of course, give thanks in advance.

What are you starting today?

  1. I should be starting the first edits for Sleeping Ugly. Everything else, I’m in the middle of. I’ll probably do some work on the gravel paths, which means a trip north to buy more bags of rocks. I’m just a gadfly this week – taking little trips north and south to do this or that. But Early Grave is in JC’s hands, so now I don’t have to feel guilty for doing other stuff. Yay. And my plants are due to arrive tomorrow, so there’s that.

Yay for plants and rocks. You’re so down to earth. 😉 And you’re write where you should be in the on-going stuffs that is this business.

      • Down to earth… ROFL… hands and knees down in it as a matter of fact. I picked up rocks and dirt. Shortly after I got home, my plants arrived a day early, so I spent some time this afternoon putting a bunch of those in the ground. And now I’m reading. This weekend, I’ll start first round edits on SU.

Got something to say?
