It’s almost time to say goodbye. Only four more days and then it’s the end. Personally, I’ll be happy to see an end to 2020 but I’m not all that crazy about what awaits in 2021. There’s not going to be any magical transformation of the “new normal.” In fact, I’m looking at a lot of people and thinking, “Be careful what you wish for…” But that’s just me.
In other news, this is Monday after Christmas. I stayed away from the world on Saturday. The day after Christmas always gives me the heebie-jeebies because all. Those. PEOPLE! This year, due to circumstances and on account of because, maybe the crowds weren’t that big. Still, people head out to return presenst and snap up the after-holiday sales.
We had a good and very quiet Christmas. We headed up to Only and Baseball Boy’s house for Santa, presents, and cinnamon rolls with them and Stormy. The kid raked in the goodies! I got gift cards so there are new jeans and lots of books in my future. We stopped by to drop off presents at the BiL/Sil’s house and wish them a Merry-Merry but didn’t get out of the truck. Stupid Covid. Then we came home, I did a small bonelss turkey breast and we had sandwiches and pie! My favorite part of late Christmas day. 😉
Saturday, I was lumpen, as mentioned. LG braved the wilds of the world to hit Home Depot. We have new, BRIGHT lights in the garage and over the backdoor and new toilet seats. This is all a bigger deal than it sounds. 🤣
Sunday, I caught up on the DVR’d The Masked Singer. Last night, I gave The Masked Dancer a try. I’m still on the fence… LG and I have totaly OD’d on Hallmark Christmas movies and there’s nothing wrong with that. We saw quite a few fun ones this year–together and apart. We each have different–and weird–sleeping patterns so one of us is usually up. Anyway…
I upped my Goodreads reading challenge from 200 to 205 last week when I hit #199 with over a week to go. I’ll hit it with no problems. I’m currently doing a relisten of Ilona Andrews’ Hidden Legacy series. So. Much. Fun! I have no clue what I’ll start of in the New Year.
Speaking of books, guess what!?!?!? I have an audio book releasing on January 12th! Who knew??? Okay, I knew the audio version was in the works but I thought production had been delayed and then all the sudden–bam! There it was! If you are into audio books, you can preorder FIGHTING FOR ELENA by clicking on the title. This is part of the mini-series set in Susan Stoker’s Operation Alpha: Police and Fire Badge of Honor, Tarpley VFD. FYI, the second season of the Tarpley VFD series comes out February 16, 2021, and FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE is up for pre-order too! And as long as I’m doing a commercial, TWICE THE TEMPTATION, Red Dirt Royalty #9 comes out on February 2, also up for preorder. The link will take you to the books Harlequin page and you can find links to all the major retailers there.
No sports last week or weekend but college bowl games are coming up. My OSU Cowboys play on the 29th. And OU plays later in the week.
And….that’s pretty much it for me this week. Looking ahead, I might get some writing done. I definitely will be book listening. Maybe I’ll work on organizing my office. I’m still itching to rearrange it so I have a snoopier view out my window. 🙄 Hope you all had happy and safe holidays, got cool prezzies, some relaxtion, good food, and time with family and friends–one way or another. Let’s get through the rest of this week and see what Friday brings. For better or worse, it’ll be something different. 😉
Things we’re quite here, today I start to take down and pack up the Christmas decor. With 3 trees this year will have more storage box, purged some garage stuff yesterday. I leave my trees put together and keep the ribbon on it, it sucks to much to rehinge the limbs every yr and re ribboning is frustrating as H😈LL.
I use to leave up after new yr, but I didn’t have as much stuff and now its pack up out with the old year, and in with a new start.
This is my last week of vacay, Monday its back at.
I know just because the calendar year changes everything in the world will magically go right??
But I think the 2021 will make a bit of a mind set if that makes sence way of looking at things.
I will probably see more fireworks in the neighborhoods this year.
Well off to have another ☕
Have a good day.
Always important, that second cup of coffee. 😆 And I am hopeful that things get better in the coming new year. I have my doubts but…anyway. I keep thinking I should take down our tree, or at least move it out of the family room and into a corner of the library which is currently our junk room since LG retired and moved all his office boxes in there. Something tells me the tree will still be in the corner of the family room come next Halloween! 🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy your vacay!
Yay! You gave me something to put in my 2021 planner! The RDR release, so I can scoot on down to Wallyworld and pick up a copy. Yay for your audio release, too! You go, girl! I’m glad you had a nice holiday. :hugs:
I slept late today, so I’m kind of out of it right now. The hermit life meant it was quiet here and we didn’t go anywhere. I only got one non-money prezzie and it was from you. Thanks again! I got myself a bunch of ebooks, including a new release from a friend of mine – The East Witch by Cedar Sanderson (no relation). We had steak and shrimp for Christmas and spaghetti and meatballs for Christmas Eve, then we had leftovers Saturday and Sunday. The apple-cranberry crisp I made is almost gone, too. Onward to 2021. Whatever it brings.
I was up early today–for a change. I’ve managed to sleep past 7 the last few days. Oddly, LG (who normally sleeps really late) was up really early today. Money and GCs always work best for me! 😆 I’m glad you got more books. Most of my ‘zon $$ will go that direction too.
Time for more coffee and to figure out my day. I’m tempted to see if I can manage a morning nap. 🙄 Have a good week!
Happy to hear you had a good Xmas. It was quiet on our end too. I went out early Saturday to do a Sal Army drop off and later in the afternoon to Aldis. I wasn’t going anywhere near anything else.
I just finished the most recent book in the Shayne Silvers Nate Temple Series on audio- great listens with lots of laugh out load and OH MY GOD HE DIDN’T moments. If you haven’t read them, I highly suggest it. I can send you the first book. There are 3 different series that interweave together. Magic, Vamps, Dragons, Wolves, Gods and Pantheons.
Now that I am caught up on his stuff, I need to find something else similar. I can’t do any of my serious stuff right now.
Christmas was quiet, with just me, the spawn and our room mate. Step kid 1 and 4 came over later for another round of presents and food. I kept wanting to call Jim and mom. I drank. New Years will be the usual quiet night and day. I plan on sleeping in.
I’ll have to check those books out! I’ll tag for the freebie if I bite. 😉
First holidays are always hard. So are second and third. But the time comes when you just miss the ones you love and know they’re around in spirit and it’s okay. ❤ you and Spawn. Hant in there. *HUGS*
